Production Process Fiber Board – FMIL -MDF

Overview
This document covers the production process of MDF boards and work in process and finished goods quality involved in making boards. The
product i.e. board may differ according to thickness and density. Only raw material is wood having density of 400-700 kg/m 3 and moisture content
40-80 %.

1. Consumption & Store issuance request
 Production department receives the wooden logs on daily basis as per requirement.
 Production department prepares store issuance request based on the monthly consumption.

2. Sign/Approves the SR

3. Debarker
 Logwood are pass to the debarker by chain conveyor. Bark Removed from The Logwood. Debarked Logwood is Good for batter quality
MDF Board.
4. Chipper (Disk Chipper)
 Make Chips from logwood according to required size. There are three type of knives in this chipper. Disk chipper gives uniform size
chips.

6. Chips Silo
 Chips are passed through belt conveyor and stored here.
 There is a provision for using chips from PB through belt conveyor when MDF chipper is not used.
5. Screener
 Dump Oversize Chips & Dust. Standard size chips go for fiber production

7. Surge Bin
 Chips Storage at The Top of Plug Screw
8. Pre-Heater
 Chips are boiled here with required amount of steam to make fiber from chips.
9. Refiner
 Makes fiber from boiled chips by using two refiner plate (one is rotating another is fixed).

Resin Production

11. Quality of resin is checked after receiving resin from store

12. Wax emulsion
 It is produced by the mixing the required materials as per recipe
13. Adhesive preparation tank
 Raw materials are mixed into the adhesive preparation tank as per recipe
 There are different recipes for adhesive used for SL blender & CL blender

14. Quality test is performed


 When the adhesive flows from the preparation tank to the CL(Core layer) blender and SL(Surface Layer) Blender, different quality
parameters are checked.
15. Dryer(Two stage)
 There are Two stage Dryer. Fiber are passed through dryer to get required moisture.
17. Z-Shifter
 Separate Glue lump & Oversized Fiber and good fiber go to fiber bin.
18. Moisture test is performed.
19. Fiber Bin
 Chips comes into fiber bin through Z-Shifter duct line. Also Forming line Reject Fiber comes into Fiber Bin.
20. Pendistor/Matformer
 Through the Pendistor evenly the materials fall on the Forming Line.
21. Pre-press
 Pre Compressed Mat & Release Mat Air.
22. Moisture test is performed.

23. Edge Trimming Saw


 Chips Cake is Trimmed as per requirement.
24. Continuous Hot Press/Contiroll press
 Boards (of different thickness. i.e. 2.3,3,4,5,6, 9, 12, 15, 16 & 18,mm) are being made here by using hot press. Thermal oil is used
to heat the press.

25. Quality is performed
 Physical inspection
 If boards are rejected, they are recycled

Plain Board Test Report

26. Board Cut with Diagonal Saw.
27. Air Cooling.
28. Cut to Size.
29. Quality is checked by production personnel

30. Sanding
 Smoothness of top and bottom and with the help of abrasive belt.

31. Quality Check
 All the boards are checked by quality and production
 Thickness and dimensions test are checked on sample basis per week by quality department

32. Finished Board
 After quality, there may good boards, burst board, side broken board, substandard board & short size board.

33. Transfer to Distribution department
 The boards are handed over to the distribution department on the basis of loading slip.
34. Internal Transfer
 Good boards are transferred to the veneering plant, ply wood, door plant & furniture plant on the basis of SR raised by the respective
plant

 Good boards are transferred to the Civil department on the basis of note approved by GM engineering and then AGM Production & GM

35. Sometimes, two or more boards are joined together to make a different board for door plant. This process takes place in ply wood plant.
