METHODOLOGY

I. RESEARCH DESIGN (LAHAT NG NAKAITALIZE AY EXAMPLE LANG. ITS UP

TO YOU IF GAGAYAHIN NIYO OKAY LANG DIN NA MAY IBANG WAY KAYO)

(The researchers used Descriptive Research Design. A

Descriptive Research is a research method that is used to try
and determine the characteristics of a population or a
particular phenomenon. It is often favored for survey research
because it generates answers in a statistical form, which makes
it easy for researchers to carry out a simple statistical
analysis to interpret what the data is conveying.)

II. RESEARCH LOCALE

(This study was conducted at Holy Family Academy of Quezon,

Nueva Ecija, Inc. It is located in Tomas Joson Ave., Brgy. II
Quezon, Nueva Ecija. It is one of the non-sectarian private and
the only catholic school in municipality of Quezon that offers
various educational programs from preschool to senior high
school that provides various academic strands, such as Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy,
Business and Management (ABM) and Humanities and Social Sciences
(HUMSS). Holy Family Academy and its school program are duly
acknowledged by the Department of Education (DepEd). HFA is also
a member of Apo Jose Catholic Education System Foundation, Inc.
(ACES) and Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines
(CEAP).)

III. RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS

(The participants of this study were approximately 90% of

the whole population size of Grade 12 Senior High School
students of Holy Family Academy of Quezon, Nueva Ecija Inc. It
includes 124 Grade 12 students, 44 from Science, Technology,
Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), 27 from Accountancy,
Business and Management (ABM) and 53 from Humanities and Social
Sciences (HUMSS). This was calculated using the Slovin’s
Formula.)

IV. DATA GATHERING TOOLS

(The researchers served as the primary data gathering instrument

in this Quantitative Research. Here, the researchers employ
data-gathering strategies, depending upon the thrust or approach
of this research. The researchers used the following tools to
gather data: (YOU CAN RETAIN THIS HIGHLIGHTED PART IF YOU WANT

 Language

English is the language that was used by the researchers in this

Quantitative Research, which makes use of tools such as survey
questionnaires to make a better comprehension and clear data
collection from the students.

 Survey and Questionnaires

An example of data gathering tool that was used in this

Quantitative Research is a survey where the researchers used a
(SAME FORMAT HERE)

self-administered and Likert type of research questionnaire to

collect numerical or measurable data information about the
Perception of Grade 12 Senior High School students of Holy
Family Academy of Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Inc. regarding the Impact
of Social Media on their Academic performance.

According to Creswell (2012), surveys are procedures in

quantitative research in which investigators administer a survey
to a sample or to the entire population of people to describe
the attitudes, opinions, behaviors, or characteristics of the
population. Creswell continues, “surveys help identify important
beliefs and attitudes of individuals”.

 Likert Scale

Researchers utilized a Likert scale, which is a unidimensional

measure, to gather respondents' attitudes and opinions. This
psychometric scale is frequently used by researchers to learn
how people feel about a particular brand, item, target market,
or statement. The respondents express their level of agreement
or disagreement through responding to the items in Likert Scale.
These scales make it possible to assess the respondents' level
of agreement or disagreement. The Likert scale makes the
assumption that the experience's strength and intensity are
linear. So, if attitudes can be measured, it goes from total
agreement to total disagreement.

The Likert Scale was used as follows: (You can retain this part)

V. DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

(The Grade 12 Senior High School students of Holy Family

Academy of Quezon, Nueva Ecija, Inc. were chosen by the
researchers to participate in the study. The researchers then
calculated and determined the sample size in order to check the
validity of the respondents’ response. Afterwards, the
researchers created a questionnaire which was adapted from the
previous studies to achieve the objectives of the research. 30
copies of these questionnaires were then distributed to randomly
selected students from each strand to conduct the pilot-testing.
The data gathered was tested using Cronbach's Alpha, this
examined whether the questionnaires were reliable enough to
conduct the research.

The final questionnaire was composed of 35-item Likert type

questionnaires. These determined the student’s perception
regarding the impact of social media on their academic
performance. The survey questionnaire is divided into three
sections: "The Impacts of Social Media on Student Academic
Performance", "The Influence of Participation in Social Media
Sites on Students' Academic Performance", and "The Social Media
Platforms that are Susceptible to Students' Academic
Performance".

The students of STEM, ABM, and HUMSS strands in Grade 12

received the survey questionnaires, and each was allotted 20
minutes to finish answering the questionnaires. The researchers
explain to the respondents the importance of their response to

the study, and clarify some terms to the respondents in such a

way that the respondents can answer the questionnaire with full
knowledge of their responsibility as the subject of the study.
The survey result and the result of the analysis will show the
Impact of Social Media on the Academic Performance of the Grade
12 Senior High School Students.)

VI. Statistical Treatment of Data

(The researchers utilized various statistical methods to analyze

and interpret the data gathered. The data gathered from the
survey were statistically treated using the following
appropriate statistical tools.

[You can retain this part because these are the statistical
treatments that you are going to use]

1. Descriptive Statistics of Frequency and Percentage

Distribution

The frequency and percentage distribution was used to determine

the frequency counts and percentage distribution of personal
related variables of the respondents. The frequency also
presents the actual response of the respondents to a specific
item in the questionnaire.

Formula: %=(𝒏)𝟏𝟎𝟎

Where: f = frequency (the number of times the answer appears)

n = total number of respondents

% = percentage of answers from the respondents

2. Descriptive Statistics of Average Weighted Mean

(SAME FORMAT HERE)

The weighted average or weighted mean was used to consider some

data values that are more important than other values, and
therefore, contribute more to the final "average".

Formula: 𝒙 =Σ(𝒘∙𝒙)Σ𝑾

Where: Σ = summation operator (it means “take the sum of”)

w = weights (Likert Scale)

x = value (frequency)

ΣW = summation of overall population

Weighted mean also has a rating scale to determine the tendency

of the composite scores. The calculation of the rating scale,
and the rating scale used in the study are shown below:

Formula: 𝑹𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑺𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒆 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒂𝒍=𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆−𝒍𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒉𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒕
