4. KEEP THE JUNGLE ALIVE
MANTENHA A SELVA VIVA
One day, Hannah approached her father while he was
repairing their truck. She had seen that the truck was
loaded with logs from the woods. She remembered
something she had seen on the news. The woods are
home to wild animals. But trees had been getting
scarce due to unsustainable logging. Hannah asked her
father, “Dad, are you happy with our home?” The father
was quite shocked by the question, but he managed to
answer, “Yes, dear. Why do you ask?” Hannah replied,
“If people tried to destroy our house, would you be
mad?” Hannah’s father was taken aback but
responded, “Yes, my dear. But I won’t let it happen.”
Hannah gave her father a sad look and said, “But you
are destroying the animals’ homes by cutting the trees
in the woods.”

Um dia, Hannah se aproximou de seu pai enquanto ele
estava consertando seu caminhão. Ela tinha visto que o
caminhão estava carregado com troncos da floresta.
Lembrou-se de algo que tinha visto nas notícias. As
madeiras são o lar de animais selvagens. Mas as
árvores haviam ficado escassas devido à exploração
insustentável. Hannah perguntou a seu pai: “Pai, você
está feliz com nossa casa?” O pai ficou bastante
chocado com a pergunta, mas ele conseguiu
responder: “Sim, querida. Por que você pergunta?
“Hannah respondeu:” Se as pessoas tentassem destruir
nossa casa, você ficaria furioso? “O pai de Hannah
ficou surpreso, mas respondeu:” Sim, minha querida.
Mas eu não deixarei que isso aconteça. “Hannah deu a
seu pai um olhar triste e disse:” Mas você está
destruindo as casas dos animais cortando as árvores
no bosque “.
