Lorraine: Today we will talk about the characteristics of culture.
Arriane: Culture consist of 7 characteristics, which will be explained by our other amazing
news casters.
Reyvin: Good morning everyone I am Reyvin and I will tackle about the first 4
characteristics of culture. No. 1 is culture is social, it means that culture develops through
social interaction.
Lorraine: An example of this is 4. Art and Music: These are also social aspects of culture.
They are ways in which societies express themselves and communicate their ideas,
emotions, and values. For example, the lively and colorful festivals in Brazil reflect their
love for music and dance.
Reyvin: No.2 is culture varies from society to society, it means that each society have
different cultures.
Arriane: An example of this is Food,The cuisine of a society is a major part of its culture.
For instance, in Japan, sushi, a dish made of vinegared rice accompanied by seafood, is a
staple. On the other hand, in Italy, pasta and pizza are iconic dishes.
Reyvin: No.3 Culture is shared.
Lorraine: An example of this is Traditions and Rituals: These are passed down from
generation to generation, such as holiday celebrations or rites of passage like weddings and
funerals. For instance, the tradition of celebrating Christmas is shared among many
societies around the world.
Reyvin: No.4 culture is learned, it means that culture is not inborn but acquired.
Arriane: An example of this is Religious Beliefs: Religious beliefs and practices are usually
taught from a young age. For example, a child born to a Christian family would learn
about the Bible, attend church, and participate in Christian holidays and rituals.

For No.5 Culture is transmitted, it means that culture is transmitted from one generation to
another.
Lumasac: an example of this is Media, including books, TV shows, movies, and social
media, also play a significant role in transmitting culture. For example, K-drama transmit
Korean culture, values, and social norms to a global audience.
Brent: No.6 Culture is continuous and cumulative, it means that culture exist as a
continuous process.
Lumasac: An example of this is Fashion: Fashion trends change over time, reflecting
cultural shifts and influences. Styles from different eras are often revived and
reinterpreted, creating a cumulative fashion history. For example, vintage fashion trends
from the 1960s may be reimagined and incorporated into modern fashion.
Brent: And last No.7 culture is gratifying and idealistic, it means that culture provides
opportunities for our desires and needs
Lumasac: an example of this is Celebrations and Festivals: Cultural celebrations and
festivals are often joyful and uplifting, bringing communities together and fostering a sense
of unity and belonging. These events can be a source of joy, celebration, and gratification,
allowing individuals to connect with their cultural heritage and traditions.
