Buffing (Metal or plastic)


i) Prepare the material by abrading with emery cloth
ii) Smoothen surface wet dry wet and dry paper, then use a wet wet and dry paper
iii) Switch on the buffing machine and apply black polishing compound to the polishing
wheel/mop of the buffing machine
iv) Bring the piece in light contact with the buffing wheel to polish using its spinning wheel /
mop, continuously remove the piece and wipe it off with clean cloth and repeat the process till
desired results are reached.
v) Apply the white shinning compound to the fine polishing wheel/mop of the buffing wheel,
repeat the process as was done in the other wheel when polishing.

Buffing can be carried out mostly on metal and acrylic. Remember to follow safety precautions;
i) putting on mouth mask, and goggles
ii) ensure the wheel is spinning to the proper direction

In the absence of buffing soaps, brasso liquid can be used but is applied directly to the metal
and let to dry, after which the buffing wheel is used to polish.

Painting and Varnishing


Step Metal (Painting) Wood (Painting or Varnishing)
i) Abrade with emery cloth Abrade with sandpaper / glass paper
ii) Prime with red oxide or metal primer Apply sanding sealer
iii) Lightly abrade and prime again Lightly abrade and apply sanding sealer again
iv) Apply light first coat Apply light first coat and let dry overnight
v) Lightly abrade and apply second coat Lightly abrade and apply second coat
Repeat about 3 times till satisfactory results are achieved.
