Activity 1
Engr. Reggie Villaraza, 54 years old specializing in painting

Materials used in the project are Flat latex, Primer, paint, paint brush

The process or steps in painting (Finishing)

1. Apply of Skim Coat na may halong tubig

2. Sanding (lilihain)

3. Applying of Primer (Which is Flat Latex for Concrete)

4. Apply of Top Coat (Ikaw na bahala if anong type ng paint and minimum of 2 coats siya)

Activity 2
Sir Richard, Sir Edison, and Sir Marvin they specialize as installers. They all have 7 years of work
experience in their field of expertise as ceiling installers.

Materials that are used in the project are; carrying channel, wall angle, gypsum board, rivets, and
black screws as well as some necessary tools (drill, tape measure, etc.).

Procedure:

1. In the installation phase the wall angles are screwed to the hardiflex board each side to hold
them together using the black screws (3 each side)
2. Followed by the metal furring as the base frame of the board.
3. From there they connect it to the carrying channel using a bracket cut from the excess wall
angle.
4. After that it is connected to another carrying channel for structural support.

3
Activity 3
JP Miraflor, 26 years old, 6 years of work experience specializing as a painter.

Materials that are used in the project are; paint, wall putty, enamel, metal spreader, sand paper,
and mini paint roller.

Procedure:

1. Apply the enamel as a primer it also intends to make the paint hold on to any surface then
apply the wall putty followed by applying sand paper to the surface.
2. After that, apply a second coat of enamel and a second coat of wall putty to help with the
finishing.
3. From there we apply the final coating (finishing) using a finishing paint.

Activity 4
Jeff Songco, 27 years old graduated from San Vicente National High School and have 8 years of
work experience. He specializes as an installer.

Materials used in the project are; for the drywall we have fiber cement board or hardiflex and for
framing we have metal studs are usually the primary material use in dry wall installation. They
also used black screw and pan head screw.

Procedure:

In the video the framing was done beforehand but it was explained that you just need to bolt the
frames together for the drywall.

1. Bolt the metal studs together (framing)

2. Place the framed metal studs on a flat surface
3. Install the drywall by bolting it in the frame by pan head screw 3 each side to hold the
drywall in place.

Activity 5
The worker by the name of Sir Lito, specializes in masonry work, particularly in CHB
laying.

These are the materials needed in this work; Concrete hollow blocks, Cement, Sand, Water,
Mortar Mix, Trowel, Level, Hammer, Chisel, Measuring Tape, String Line, and shovel.

Procedure:

1. Site preparation:

Excavate and level the ground where the wall will be constructed.

Set up a string line or chalk line to indicate the location and alignment of the wall.

2. Mixing the mortar:

Prepare the mortar mix by combining cement, sand, and water in a wheelbarrow or mixing tray.

Mix thoroughly until the mortar is smooth and free of lumps. The ideal ratio of cement to sand is
1:6, and the water should be added gradually until the desired consistency is achieved.

3. Laying the first course:

Apply a layer of mortar on top of the footing and start laying the first course of CHBs.

Use a level and string line to ensure that the blocks are leveled and aligned.

Use a trowel to apply mortar between the blocks and join them firmly together.

4. Laying the succeeding courses:

After completing the first course, apply another layer of mortar on top and repeat the process until
the desired height is achieved.

5
Check the level and alignment of each course as you lay it to ensure that the wall remains straight
and even.

Use a hammer and chisel to shape and cut the CHBs as needed to fit at corners and ends.

5. Finishing:

Allow the mortar to dry and cure for at least 24 hours before proceeding with the next course.

Once the wall is complete, use a finishing trowel to apply a thin layer of plaster or stucco to the
surface. This will help to improve the wall's appearance and provide additional protection against
moisture and weathering.

Clean up the work area by removing any excess mortar, debris, and tools. Dispose of any waste
materials properly.

6. Inspection and testing:

Inspect the wall for any cracks, gaps, or other defects.

Conduct a compression test on the wall to ensure that it meets the required strength specifications.

Fill any gaps or cracks with mortar and allow it to dry before applying a final coat of plaster or
paint.

Activity 6
Sir Anghilito, 56 years old and his line of work is construction. Usually he’s role is (all
around) meaning he does everything but he also master/specializes in tileworks.

Materials used in this activity are; 12 pcs tiles, 5kg tile adhesive, water, bucket, dipper,
pencil, leveling ruler, circular saw, measuring tape, and cement trowel.

Procedure:

1. Mixing tile adhesive with water

2. Preparing cement tile (make the tiles wet to hold the mixture)
3. Installing the tiles by putting the mixture in the tile and placing them to the ground (use a
hammer to lightly tap them in place)
4. You could cut the normal tile to fit the small gaps (a normal tile won’t fit through)
5. Clean the area of the work (clear all dust particles and any excess mixture

Activity 7
Arnel Menada, a 51 years old construction worker. He started working in the construction
industry when he was 40 years old and mostly he deals with residential areas and works.

Primary materials are cement (any cement would do but they use eagle advance cement),
rodela, and other materials essential for mixing cement.

Procedure:

1. Measure the desired thickness (usually 12 mm) and put a nylon string as guide.
2. Prepare the cement plaster mix with standard ratio/learn by experience (1:4 ratio)
3. Apply the plaster using the cement trowel and Plaster trowel rodela rubber
4. Wet the surface to hold the mixture, and make sure to adequately mix the dry and wet
substances
5. Use the back of the cement trowel to put the cement on the hollow blocks

7
Activity 8
Kuya Bergardo who specializes in painting with over 15 years of work experience when it
comes to steel painting.

The materials used by the group was; paint, steel (yero), paint thinner, and pain brush

Procedure:

1. Place a newspaper or anything to prevent the paint from dripping onto the floor
2. Place the steel (yero) in a flat surface, doesn’t matter if its horizontal or vertical to the
surface
3. Next apply the paint using the paint brush
4. Paint the steel (yero) by upward and downward motion (brush stroke), make sure to
completely paint it before painting onto the other parts of the steel (yero)

Activity 9
Kuya Francis specialized in welding and have 7 years of work experience in that area.

The materials used in the project are measuring tape, metal saw, welding machine, welding
rod, welding rod holder, purlins, and angle bar. He also use some safety materials along the process
like welder’s mask, gloves, and safety shoes

Procedure:

1. The worker first measured the angle bar to be cut by the metal saw.
2. After cutting the angle bar by its measurement he then proceed to stick the materials
together by welding them.
3. After that for the finishing touches he then uses the purlins for the roof connection.

LESSONS:
The lessons I learned are first-hand experience of what we will do in the future as an
engineer student. Like what Engr. Wyndell Almenor, even if we graduated as an engineer student,
we finish taking the bar. We would still need to learn these skills on the job or at a construction
sites because schools or Universities don’t teach these skills, they only teach the concepts and ratio
of the mixture.

This activity help me understand and learned valuable experience that would normally be
available to a graduate or a worker in society. By having done this activity and watching my other
classmates do their activities, I come to realize what would I do in the future as well as what sort
of skills I would obtain by having this career.

Overall, this activity help me grow as an Engineer student, it also helped me understand
and realize what my career entails and its future prospects and lastly, it help me gain necessary
skills and technique in my future field of work. I hope there would be other chances or other
activities like this as a change from the day to day activities we students tackle like problem solving
and making thesis or reports.
