Assignment Overview
Over the next couple of classes you will be researching an indigenous game, creating a
plan to teach it to the class and then actually having our class play the game you
selected.
Steps:
● Give a summary of the people who play it including: Location, culture, beliefs,
practices or any other relevant information. By the end the class should have a
good idea about the culture that plays the game
● Next provide a detailed history of the game: Why was it played, how long has it
been played, its cultural significance and purpose.
● Then research how to play the game: Think of the rules, how you could have the
whole class play the game, what are the required materials for the game.
● It is also important to think of how you would teach this game to the class. How
can you involve everyone in the game, do you need groups made, will it be played
outside or inside, how will you present the summary, history and instructions of
the game.
● Include some rules for playing the game safely and expectations for how the rest
of the class should participate.
After completing your research, make a plan that you will submit to me so I can give you
feedback.
1. Your research
2. The materials you will need to teach the game and how you plan to get them
3. A plan for how you are going to present and teach your game including: The
people who play it, a detailed history of the game, instructions, rules, and how
you intend for the class to play.
4. A timeline of how long you will need to get ready to teach your game.
After handing in your plan you can begin making a presentation for your game.
Your presentation should include your research on the people who play the game, the
history of the game and instructions on how to play the game.
You should plan how you will teach the game to the class. Consider where you will
teach it, the materials you will use and how you can have everyone playing it.
Your presentation should take 20 minutes altogether for teaching the game and playing
it with the class
On the day of your presentation you should be ready to present your game and have the
class play it.
