State Schools
Dot Map Showing Starting and Mid-Career Salaries Around the U.S.
This is the map of median salaries for state schools around the country. The larger dots in the map represent schools having a higher median
mid-career salary. While the darker dots represent schools having a higher median starting salary. For the sliders, click the right arrow for “In”
to see the Top/Bottom 10 countries for mid-career salaries. Moreover, hover over a dot to see more information about that school. Lastly, never
put both sliders on “In” at the same time because a school can’t be in the top and bottom 10 at the same time. Usually, larger dots also tend to
be dark, which means a higher mid-career salary also has a higher starting salary. Contrary, small dots tend to be light, which indicate lower
mid-career salary, has a lower starting salary, in general.

We have two scatter plots with different trend lines to see which schools are over/underperforming. We have Linear and logarithmic Trend lines
and they both look about the same since the number of schools under- and overperforming are about the same. As far as salaries are
concerned, University of California, Berkeley is the best performer for starting and mid-career salaries with $59,900 and $112,000, respectively.
Morehead State University is the least performer with $34,800 for starting salary and $60,600 for mid-career salary. For the most overperforming
university, University of Colorado (UCB), it was way above the linear and logarithmic trend line which shows great overperformance. On the
other hand, Tarleton State University (TSU), shows a high underperformance as it was way under the linear and logarithmic trend line.
