Take Introduction to Health Science 1115

this summer! (Richmond SD38 Dual Credit)


Are you interested in taking a degree in Health Science or Nursing?
If so, get ahead by taking this tuition-free dual credit course!
SD38 students entering Grades 11 or 12 this fall are invited to apply to take Intro to Health Science (HSCI 1115) at
the KPU Richmond Campus this summer. This course supports a KPU degree in Health Science or Nursing and is
university transferable. TUITION is paid by Richmond SD38. Successful students earn dual credits: KPU credits (3)
plus one Grade 12 course (4 credits toward high school graduation). Students may be required to purchase a course
textbook. Course schedule and description are outlined below. International students may be considered if the
class is not full.

Location / Delivery Format: Tuesdays Online Asynchronous and Thursdays 10am – 1pm (in-person on campus)

Course Description (KPU Instructor: Dr. Bassam Nyaeme)
Students will be introduced to the multifaceted field of health science and the foundations of promoting health
and wellness. They will explore concepts of health science from a variety of perspectives including biological,
clinical, cultural, environmental, political, and socioeconomic. Students will examine the Canadian health system
and strategies that promote health and wellness in the community.
