CODAP

- CODAP is a free tool that you can use for school activities.
- It doesn't require signing up, so you can start using it right away.
- CODAP is like a cousin of Microsoft Excel. They both deal with organizing data, but
CODAP is focused on educational data analysis.

Good things we noticed and benefited from CODAP:

1. Toggle Feature : When you toggle anything, CODAP shows you what it's for, making
it easy to understand.
2. Adjustable Graphs and Tables : You can change the sizes of graphs and tables to
fit your needs.
3. Measure Tool Benefits : The measure tool on the graph helps you analyze data
more effectively.
4. Configuration Options : You can configure points, bins, and bars to customize your
graphs.
5. URL Support : CODAP allows you to drop URLs, which can be handy for adding
external data sources.

How we used CODAP in our roller coaster project:

1. Gathering Data : We collected information about roller coasters from different states.
2. Comparison : We compared these roller coasters with those in the Philippines based
on our own experiences.
3. Drawing Conclusions : We concluded that roller coasters in the Philippines tend to
be shorter in duration. We wanted to understand what makes a roller coaster perfect for
us, especially after waiting in line for so long.
4. Analyzing Effects : We looked at how factors like drop, top speed, length, and
duration affect each other, considering features like loops and a paper plate spiral.

Additional Analysis:

- Drop and Speed : The drop of a roller coaster affects its top speed. A steep drop
leads to a faster speed.
- Speed and Duration : Faster speeds result in shorter durations, while slower speeds
make the ride longer.
- Length and Duration : Roller coasters with longer tracks have longer durations.
- Loop Requirement : To successfully navigate a loop, the roller coaster needs enough
speed to go upside down.
- Paper Plate Spiral Addition : Adding a paper plate spiral extends the duration of the
ride and can affect speed, length, and the overall thrill of the experience.
CODAP is a useful tool for studying school data. It has simple features like toggles and
adjustable sizes. It's great for activities like looking at roller coaster data. With CODAP,
we can see how different things affect the roller coaster ride. We used CODAP to gather,
analyze, and show data for our project. It helps us make smart choices about our roller
coaster. We hope to find more how- to guides in the library to understand CODAP even
better.
