Activity points program
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
The objectives of AICTE student activity is to expose students to the real time life challenges, to
provide opportunity to gather data, analyze data, propose solutions and implement solutions,
provide an opportunity for personal development, to create engineers who are proud volunteers
having a sense of achievement and ready to take up projects having social impact and to create
digital awareness. We the 4th year Computer Science engineering students of the department have
conducted AICTE activity point program in government schools and other rural areas. We have
considered government schools in Kolar for our activities and for our program. It was planned to
divide the students into different batches and the scheduling is made in such a way that the
batches can carry out all the activities.
As per the experts, if at all Urban India has seen enormous development it is due to the
• Engineering Solutions
• Engineering Implementations
• Engineering Employments
Though engineering contribution is more in the development there are other segments that
contributed to the sustainable Urban Infrastructure such as
• Health
• Education
• Transport
• Dwelling Places
• Government Policies
In comparison, Engineering Solution is seen in less than 10% in the following segments
of Rural India:
• Rural Development
• Agriculture
• Animal Husbandry
• Agriculture Marketing
• Rural Employment
• Promoting Local Tourism
• Women Empowerment
• Reducing Malnutrition
• Solid Waste Management
If an Engineer can bring automation to the non-living environment in urban areas, he can
bring such solutions to the unexplored segments. Experts say, the Engineering Solution
occupies 50% in the development of any segment. If we look back from 1970’s, Engineers has
not contributed much to the Rural Development. After Rajiv Gandhi’s scheme of introducing
computer in India,
people started learning Engineering but concentrated much on Urban Solutions. The probable
reasons are:
As a result, today India has given better scientists and entrepreneurs to the world. Today at
least one CEO of top 10 companies in world is from India. But India itself is struggling to
solve thesocial problems.
People with expertise in above segments are not interested to solve Rural Problems as:
• They prefer commercialization than Service
• Implementation has to start from elementary stage
• Lack of Public support in Rural Areas
• Lack of Infrastructures in Rural Areas
• Decreasing population in Rural Areas
• Unorganized segments are seen in Rural Areas
Hence AICTE, a Technical Education Monitoring Council has come up with a plan of
AICTE Activity Points that needs:
• Identifying the Problem in Indian Society particularly in Rural India.
• Explore the available Solution for the Problems.
• Analyze the effectiveness of such solutions in the practical India.
If same project is considered for more than 300 Hours, a prototype of such solution must
be implemented.
This is a motivational concept by AICTE to bring Social Innovation in Engineers at
their education level to:
• Address the Social Challenges of India.
• Propose a practical solution to such challenges.
• Bring more Social Innovations and Research.
• Blend the available technology for effective solutions.
AICTE Activity Points is very essential in shaping India for the sustainable lifestyle. The
AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the social
problems existing in India. The objectives of AICTE student activity is to expose students to
the real time life challenges, to provide opportunity to gather data, analyze data, propose
solutions and implement solutions, provide an opportunity for personal development, to create
engineers who are proud volunteers having a sense of achievement and ready to take up
projects having social impact and to create digital awareness.
CHAPTER 2
Activity 1:
Helping local schools to achieve good result and enhance
their enrollment in Higher/ Technical/ Vocational
Education
ABSTRACT
The AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the
social problems existing in India. The project "Helping Local schools to achieve good
results and enhance their enrolment in Higher Education" throws a light on possible
opportunity for the engineering solution in the development of an efficient way of helping
local schools achieve good results. The purpose of education is not just imparting
information. Quality Education is the better class of education. Quality Education means
bringing education to a higher level. Education results in better learned individuals but
quality education makes better educated individuals. Quality in literal sense means the
measurement of something as compared to other thing of the same kind. Quality reflects
completeness in all aspects. It is a wider approach than mere formal education. It is
education for life. The educational quality of a nation describes and affects the success of the
respective nation. The objective of this paper is to study the various aspects of Quality
Education and to bring out the flaws in the same. Quality Education prevails in theory but
not in practice. The concept of quality education is limited to the vocational aim and
infrastructure only. Our education system can develop a competent worker but is unable to
develop a human being. So, the flaws in implementing quality education need to be studied
and removed to ensure quality in real sense.
INTRODUCTION
A quality education is one that focuses on the whole child- the social, emotional, mental,
physical, and cognitive development of each student regardless of gender, race, ethnicity,
socioeconomic status, or geographic location. It prepares the child for life, not just for testing.
This type of education provides resources and directs policy to ensure that each child enters
school healthy and learns about and practices a healthy lifestyle; learns in an environment that
is physically and emotionally safe for students and adults; is actively engaged in learning and
is connected to the school and broader community; has access to personalized learning and is
supported by qualified, caring adults; and is challenged academically and prepared for success
in college or further study and for employment and participation in a global environment.
A quality education provides the outcomes needed for individuals, communities, and societies
to prosper. It allows schools to align and integrate fully with their communities and access a
range of services across sectors designed to support the educational development of their
students. It is supported by three key pillars: ensuring access to quality teachers; providing use
of quality learning tools and professional development; and the establishment of safe and
supportive quality learning environments.
To bring in the awareness among the youth of this generation, AICTE has mandated quality
education as one of the topics with which a degree student can earn activity points. By
involving in this activity, the student can help the local schools to achieve good results and
enhance their enrolment in higher or technical or vocational education ensuring that every
student gets the quality education. Here, the students help the rural kids from various
backgrounds by sharing the knowledge they have about the subjects in their curriculum
by providing study materials so that is paces up their learning. In this way, the student
can contribute to making a strong impact of enriching the knowledge of a young mind.
Learning assessments show that many of those children who are in school are not learning
the basics of literacy and numeracy or the additional knowledge and skills necessary for their
all round development as specified under the Right to Education Act. Much remains to be
done to ensure a child-friendly learning environment where all children benefit from gender-
sensitive and inclusive classrooms, as well as the availability of improved water, sanitation
and hygiene, and mid-day meal practices.
We all are aware of how technology changing the face of education. Not only has the mode
of receiving education changed but the methods of teaching students have also evolved.
Earlier, education was more of a monologue, but nowadays, teachers encourage students to
maintain a two-way flow of information in classrooms. United Nations has identified a
multitude of problems at the global level which if not addressed can lead to serious
problems. To tackle such issues, the need for leaders and experienced professionals who are
adept in their respective fields has grown. To encourage leadership and power to influence
among the students, it has become imperative to employ a refined way of teaching practices.
In the age of technology, information can be accessed from anywhere in the world. Even
though providing quality education demands great efforts to shape the personality of a
student, but with the advent of new technologies, a student is just a click away from
requisite resources. While sitting hundreds of miles away from an educational institute, the
can take online classes from the institution, avail benefits of online career counseling and
access a great volume of resources from free online libraries.
The UNO aims to provide quality education to everyone. By including this activity in
the curriculum, AICTE has provided a wonderful opportunity to all the students to
contribute to this goal in an effective manner.
• It makes the students capable of contributing their best in both individual and community
developments. It focuses on the social, mental, physical, emotional, cognitive, and
economic development of every learner irrespective of their race, ethnicity, gender,
geographical location, or socioeconomic status.
• Through quality education, an individual can seek better job opportunities, progress with
sustainable livelihoods, and have a healthy lifestyle. Best delivered education spurs
innovative minds.
• Well-educated masses can tolerate the resilience of the communities and become a part of
peaceful democratic society.
• It allows the prosperity of individuals, communities, and society as a whole.
Education is the means of acquiring knowledge through var10us learning, teaching and
studying process. The quality of education is the right impact in which the knowledge
one has acquired is put to use accurately. It is also of a great importance for a student to
be taught effectively and efficiently for them to retain what they have studied so far.
Quality and affordable education are for everybody and all educational stakeholders must
ensure they implement a policy that guides against unethical practices in schools. They
must regulate the activities that deter the growth of education. Students should be able to
get adequate knowledge and understanding for them to achieve academic excellence in
school.
► Adequate Knowledge
Students will be able to gain more knowledge and understanding through the right
educational practices. It will help them to be independent in whatever the situation they find
themselves, within and outside the school. All educational stakeholders must ensure they
provide tutors and valuable educators that will direct the affairs of students properly, so as to
boost their knowledge and experience.
► Improves Students Study Skills
The potential to learn and study will increase since the quality of education is reflected
through student's academic performance. Education should not be taken with levity
hands. Students will have better knowledge of reading when books are available. They
will be prompted to learn when they have a conducive environment for learning.
It is of great importance to provide quality education that will help to boost the morale
of students to learn. All educators must also ensure they provide a conducive
environment for students to learn. Parents and guardian should also send their children
or wards to the best school for them to learn.
i. Activity Sheets:
Worksheets are great to test the learning outcome. Worksheets can also be used to identify
the weakness of the students. Worksheets can also be used effectively to understand the
difficult concepts. The activity sheets cover a range of learning goals including language and
literacy to number and counting skills and can be used to support independent learning.
Activity sheets provide the context and direction and importantly the process to participate
in activities, link to resources and free media utilizing a variety of media and publishing
tools. Activity sheets can be mapped against learning outcomes and performance criteria and
decontextualized by other teachers. The language of education is about activity sheets,
session plans and curriculum.
ii. Anchor Charts:
An anchor chart is a tool used to support instruction and to move students toward achieving
success with lessons taught in class. Anchor charts are created during the instruction of a
lesson. As the teacher models the strategy or skill, the important points are written on chart
paper. Setting up a library that would help students to easily access the requisite study
materials at their convenience and can be circulated between students. Promotes a shared
environment and to certain extents helps students not spending huge amount of money
towards buying the study materials.
standards one of the most important is having adequate and efficient study materials. Quality
education lays the groundwork for societal fairness. One of the most basic public services is
high-quality education. It not only informs but also empowers residents, allowing them to
participate as much as possible in their communities’ social and economic growth. Due to
the pandemic, the digital revolution in the field of education has left many children devoid of
quality education especially the ones who are financially challenged. Providing the
Government school students with adequate study materials would take the students a step
closer towards achieving the quality education. The activity also aims in setting up a library
so the students can easily refer to the required books at their convenience.

Activity 2:
Promotion of appropriate technologies
ABSTRACT
The AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the
social problems existing in India. The project “Promotion of appropriate Technologies”
throws a light on possible opportunity for the engineering solution in the development of a
more extent level of digitization in the country. There are basically two tasks performed:
In Task 1, a data survey is conducted with 10-20 individuals. For every individual, a quite
lot of questions regarding the payment modes they use, whether they use the digital payment
options or not, if they use, what are the most used apps, their opinion and their involvement
will be asked. The survey is helping in analyzing the type of Engineering Solutions needed
to enhance the digitization extent.
In Task 2, the most important aspect i.e., interaction among the survey takers about the
queries they have, will be carried out. This involves answering the doubts the people have
regarding the risk of fraud activities while using digital payment modes, explaining the
overall working of digital payment modes for the people who are completely unaware of it,
and getting clarity about the fraud activities experienced by the people, if any.
INTRODUCTION
Digital India is a flagship programmed of the Government of India with a vision to
transform India into a digitally empowered society and knowledge economy. E-governance
initiatives in India took a broader dimension in the mid-1990s for wider sectoral applications
with emphasis on citizen-centric services. The major ICT initiatives of the Government
included, inter alia, some major projects, such as railway computerization, land record
computerization etc., which focused mainly on the development of information systems.
Later on, many states started ambitious individual e-governance projects aimed at providing
electronic services to citizens.
Though these e-governance projects were citizen-centric, they could make less than the
desired impact due to their limited features. The isolated and less interactive systems
revealed major gaps that were thwarting the successful adoption of e-governance along the
entire spectrum of governance. They clearly pointed towards the need for a more
comprehensive planning and implementation for the infrastructure required to be put in
place, interoperability
• Task was regarding conducting survey on usage of digitized transactions among rural
people of Kagathi.
• Created a google form consisting of questions on participant’s details, the mode of
transaction they use and the reason behind using such mode of transaction.
• This survey was conducted in order to know the nature of usage of digitized transactions,
and to know whether they are using online transactions or cash transactions and their
responses are recorded and made an analysis of how many are using the particular mode of
transaction.
very good which save effort and even time By this survey we had an opportunity to meet
people and talk about the online transactions that by seeing their nice responses tells that the
people are really happy using online transactions.
Money is really a very important to all of us so everyone is depended on this itself people
work hard to get this money they can’t afford to lose that easily so the security of that money
is also very important thanks to our engineers they have made the best technology which we
can all rely easily and give us safety and that believe that out money will not be lost At last
money transferring online is good according to me it is easy, fast, and safer so much time
savior.
From this survey I observe that most of the people have shifted to online transactions or
digitized transaction as it is safe and faster means for payment. Whereas there are many
people who are still dependent on cash rather than online as they feel it comfortable, and no
fear of fraud
All were also co-operative even though many of them were not ready for taking up the survey
but later they were sold on the fact that the survey will help student. End of the end all very
happy taking up the survey.
Things Which I have learnt by taking up this survey. To mention few are:
i. Meeting new people out of my comfort zone with different opinion.
ii. Understoodvarious advantages & Disadvantages of using online transaction as well as
cash.
iii. Collected valuable information. Introduced me to outside World
iv. Last but not the least gathered information on digitized transaction based on views given
by public.

Activity 3:
Reduction in Energy Consumption
ABSTRACT
The AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the
social problems existing in India. The project "Helping Local schools to achieve good
results and enhance their enrolment in Higher Education" throws a light on possible
opportunity for the engineering solution in the development of an efficient way of reducing
energy consumption. The analysis of household energy consumption, specifically on home
heating expenditures, reveals a shift in patterns across different family life stages, notably
with higher costs associated with elderly consumers. Energy efficiency is crucial,
encompassing measures like insulation and behavioral changes, which can significantly
reduce costs. Conducting energy audits and implementing suggested actions, potentially
aided by local or national programs, can lead to substantial reductions in heat consumption,
offering valuable insights for policymakers and marketers..
INTRODUCTION
With greenhouse gas emissions in sharp focus around the world, the time has come for
everyone to take action to economize on energy use by the intelligent application of
technology to bring about energy efficiency.
Economies are readily possible in electricity generation and distribution, in its use and in
the way, electricity can be used wisely to make efficiencies in the use of other energy.
Indeed, the management and control of other primary thermal energy from coal, oil and
gas is also a key to reducing both consumption and emissions.
The technology is available to maximize the effectiveness of energy consumption and the
way in which it is distributed. The technology is there to control buildings’ energy use in
lighting, heating, HVAC, building controls and distribution. Lighting alone can account
for 40% of a typical commercial enterprise’s electricity consumption. It is also important
to consider that passive energy reduction measures such as installing insulation, can create
problems if adequate ventilation is not considered at the same time. In industry there are
proven systems to reduce the power consumed by electric motor systems and to better
control the application of electrical powerthroughout a plant. Two thirds of electrical
energy used by industry is used powering motors. In most countries less than 10% of those
motors have any kind of control and therefore cannot be slowed down or switched off
automatically.
In the home, new products enable lighting and heating controls that enhance living standards
yet save electricity. In most countries, every single domestic dwelling (including individual
apartments) contributes about 6.5 tons of CO2 each year - or, to put it another way, enough
gas to fill six hot air balloons! Yet, just switching off lights in unoccupied rooms could save
2.2 tones per household. In short, there is no reason not to be able to save energy and other
energy, provided there is the understanding of what is at stake, together with the desire to do
something about it.
World energy consumption is projected to rise by 30% by 2020 according to Ener data’s
latest predictions from May 2007. Electricity consumed in 2005 was estimated at 18,140
TWh with 67% of that capacity produced by coal, oil and gas power stations. It is clear that
electrical energy consumption will rise over the coming decades if no action is taken to
economize. This is particularly true in third world and emerging economies where not only
is the use of new electrical equipment growing, but also much of the populations of certain
regions currently without electricity supplies, will subsequently get them.
In offices, the explosion of information technology has seen huge increases in electrical
consumption, as has the preference for air conditioning systems. The prolific growth of
datacenters and new industries has also contributed to a dramatic rise in electrical power
usage. In industry, automation and the increasing use of electrical power as well as
inefficient hydraulic and pneumaticsystems has grown. In the home, computers, multiple
televisions sets, modern electrical appliances, air conditioning and even outside lighting and
powered equipment have seen an exponential growthin consumption. Indeed, in many
western economies, domestic electricity consumption outstrips even industrial use. It would
be hard for most people to imagine a life without electricity, but that does not mean
consumption cannot be controlled.
As we all aware of that carbon dioxide works as a transparent layer in the atmosphere that is
part of the cause to the global warming of the earth, or we can also name it as greenhouse
effect. Global warming has its own consequences in our atmosphere. It has its deadly effects
like spreading of different diseases, warmer waters and more chances of hurricanes,
financial costs, polar ice melting, increased chances and intensity of heat waves. Ozone
depletion is the reduction of the protection layer of ozone in the uppermost atmosphere by
chemical pollution. Ozone layer is the protection line between earth and the ultraviolet rays
emitted by the sun. People who have more exposure to UV radiation can have some health
problems like DNA damage, skin cancer, aging and other problems related to skin.
There could be some possible issues that include a danger to human body health, impact on
environment like rising sea levels, and major changes in vegetation growth methods. When
coal is burned, it realizes Sulphur dioxide into the air and therefore, it reacts with water and
oxygen in the clouds and forms acid rain. Acid rain kills fish and trees and also damage
limestone buildings and statutes. These types of global problems can be resolved. As per the
data of United States calculated per year, we found that the average family’s energy uses
produces over 11,200 pounds of air pollutants. Therefore, every unit of kilowatt of
electricity preserved diminishes the natural environment impact of energy use.

Activity 4:
To skill rural population of India
ABSTRACT
The AICTE Activity Points project has the focus on applying engineering skills to solve the
social problems existing in India. The project "To upskill rural population of India" throws a
light on possible opportunity for the engineering solution in the development of an efficient
way of prevention of digital frauds. In an increasingly interconnected world driven by digital
technologies, the prevalence of digital frauds poses a significant threat to individuals,
businesses, and societies at large. This abstract provides an overview of digital frauds, their
impact, and strategies to mitigate their risks.
INTRODUCTION
Digital frauds encompass a wide range of deceptive practices perpetrated through digital channels,
including but not limited to phishing, identity theft, online scams, and financial frauds. These
fraudulent activities exploit vulnerabilities in digital systems and prey on unsuspecting individuals,
often resulting in financial losses, compromised personal information, and erosion of trust in online
platforms.
The proliferation of digital frauds is fueled by various factors, including the rapid digitization of
financial transactions, the anonymity afforded by the internet, and the increasing sophistication of
cybercriminals. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the threat landscape, with
cybercriminals exploiting the chaos and uncertainty to launch targeted attacks on individuals and
organizations.
To effectively combat digital frauds, a multi-faceted approach is required, encompassing
technological solutions, legislative measures, and user education. Technological advancements
such as encryption, biometric authentication, and AI-driven fraud detection systems play a crucial
role in fortifying digital infrastructure and thwarting fraudulent activities. Additionally, robust
legislative frameworks and enforcement mechanisms are essential to deter cybercriminals and hold
them accountable for their actions.
However, perhaps the most critical aspect of combating digital frauds lies in empowering
individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and mitigate risks. Digital literacy
programs, cybersecurity awareness campaigns, and upskilling initiatives are indispensable in
equipping individuals, particularly those in vulnerable communities, with the tools to navigate the
digital landscape safely.
In conclusion, digital frauds represent a formidable challenge in the digital age, but concerted
efforts at the individual, organizational, and societal levels can mitigate their impact. By leveraging
technological innovations, enacting effective policies, and fostering digital literacy, we can create a
safer and more secure digital environment for all.
As we all aware of that carbon dioxide works as a transparent layer in the atmosphere that is
part of the cause to the global warming of the earth, or we can also name it as greenhouse
