PROJECT ID: CONNECTING THE DOTS

ASSESSMENT 2: PERSONAL REFLECTION ON TEAMWORK (15%)
OCTOBER 2023 SEMESTER

Congratulations, you have arrived at the mid-point of your project! You would by now have achieved a deeper
and more comprehensive understanding of your Focused Driving Question (FDQ) and will start designing a
comprehensive solution for the FDQ. As you have been working in a multi-disciplinary team in the last few
weeks, there must have been precious lessons learnt about your strength and area of improvement as a
collaborator and working more effectively as a team.

ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVES

This assessment aims to evaluate your competency in the following:

▪ Reflecting on your area of strength and weakness working in a team and analysing how they have
helped and hindered your team in meeting project goals during the research phase.
▪ Reflecting on one teamwork competency that YOUR team needs to improve on to work more
effectively together, justifying why and outlining what you can do to help your team improve.
▪ Applying the concept of team dynamics and teamwork competencies criteria for the module

THE TASK

1. Write a 250-word reflection on the following points. Do include supporting facts and details from your
project experience and mid-point team feedback.

Your INDIVIDUAL teamwork abilities

Based on the mid-point team feedback received, reflect on ONE area of strength and ONE area of
weakness when it comes to YOUR OWN teamwork competencies*. Analyse how your area of
strength and weakness have helped and hindered your team in meeting project goals during the
research phase.

Enhancing your TEAM’S dynamics and collaborative effectiveness

Identify ONE teamwork competency* that you think YOUR TEAM should improve on so that it can be
more effective in meeting goals for the remaining project phases. Justify why you think this is
important AND outline some strategies and actions (e.g. allocating roles, establishing team norms,
dealing with conflicts, conducting meetings, instilling team values) that YOU can take to help your
team improve on this.

Refer to Lesson 2 slides for materials on Team Dynamics & Teamwork Competencies. Apply
teamwork competencies criteria (below) in your answers.

*Teamwork competencies include the following:

LATE SUBMISSION PENALTY

For each day past the deadline, 10% of the total possible marks will be deducted up to a maximum of 7

Students may request for extensions of the deadline if there are valid reasons, such as the following:

on the day of your presentation, please contact the tutor personally and in advance.

is a serious offence. Both copiers and abettors will be penalized heavily – first time offenders will receive
a zero mark for the assessment, second time offenders will fail the module, third time offenders will face
disciplinary action. You are reminded to paraphrase ideas and key information in your own words and
