SYMPTOM
Faxes that require internal communication with the HDD cannot be sent and remain in the
machine, and the Transmission Failure Report is not printed out. Customers may be
unaware of non-transmission.
Conditions:
1). Capturing Device Log function is enabled (Default: enable).
2). Capturing Device Log accesses the HDD just as the machine switches to Sleep Mode.
3). The fax is sent using a feature that requires internal communication with the HDD, i.e.:
Preview Before Transmission
Remote Fax (either as the Main machine or Sub machine)
Sending the document stored in Document Server
CAUSE
When the conditions 1) and 2) described above are met, the line of communication between
the HDD and the machine is locked and remains locked until main power OFF. Fax features
that require internal communication with the HDD use this same line, which then prevents
fax transmission.
SOLUTION
In Production line
FCU Firmware is modified to release the line of communication between the machine and
HDD under the conditions described above.

SYMPTOM
SC672-11 occurs just after a “System Reset” is performed on the Affected Models below.
Note:
The machine works normally until System Reset is performed.
A System Reset is performed in the following cases:
- Remote installation of a solution app
- After RFU/ARFU completed
- The # and * keys are pressed together for 10 seconds
- Remote reboot via WIM (HDD format, A time area change and a
measurement unit change “mm/inch”).
The above operations are completed normally, but SC672-11 will occur and it
must be cancelled when by the manual power OFF/ON.
CAUSE
Defective NAND chips are used on controller boards produced between Aug 2016 to April
2017 (see Affected Models below). A software bug is in the NAND chip. As a result of this
bug, the chip cannot perform a restore after the System Reset, which triggers the SC.

Technical Bulletin
Reissued:11-Jan-18
Model: Lef-C1 Date: 25-Aug-17 No.: RD259066a
Affected Models
- COR-C1 (MP 2554/3054/3554/4054/5054/6054)
- GR-C2 (MP C306/C307)
- Lef-C1 (MP 305+)
- Z-P2 (SP C435DN/C440DN)
- Service parts of Controller Boards for the above models.
SOLUTION
Production line:
The NAND chip was modified (applied from: April 2017 production).
Note: This was applied to the Lef-C1 and Z-P2 only, since production of the COR-C1 and GR-C2
have already been discontinued.
In the field:
A new firmware module “NAND FLASH” is added. Install this firmware into the affected
NAND chip by the following procedure.
1) Update System/Copy to the following version or later. This is a preparation for installation
of NAND FLASH firmware.
Product Firmware name P/N Version
COR-C1 System/Copy D2025550X 1.19
COR-C1_SOP System/Copy D2015550W 1.19
GR-C2 System/Copy D1965400R 1.14
LEF-C1 System/Copy D2595552M 1.11
Z-P2a System M2575735B 1.02
Z-P2b System M2575731D 1.05
Important:
- Both firmwares cannot be updated at the same time (by SD card and remote update).
Please be sure to follow the order above because NAND FLASH cannot be installed unless
the System/Copy is updated to this version.
- Either the new System/Copy or NAND FLASH is available for RFU/ARFU, but a System
Reset is performed after step 1) completed, and then SC672-11 occurs because the
affected NAND chip is not modified yet at that moment. Second System Reset will be
performed after step 2) but SC672-11 does not occur at that time.
- If the System/Copy is the new version or later, the version information of NAND FLASH
can be shown on SMC Diagnostic report. If the version is “Q0310E” or later, NAND FLASH
is installed correctly.
- In the case that a customized System/Copy firmware have been installed to the machine,
please overwrite System/Copy with the customized version after the procedure above.
Once the software in NAND chip is modified, System/Copy can be downgraded to the
customized version.

This RTB describes the requirements for installing models in the MP 305+ series as a CC-
CERTIFIED MACHINES compliant with IEEE Std 2600.2TM-2009
Do the following eleven steps if you want to install the MP 305+ series models as a CC-
CERTIFIED MACHINE compliant with IEEE Std 2600.2TM-2009.
Note: Machines in production are CC-certified beginning in July 2017.
Important: If you perform with accessing SP mode, the machine become the different
condition as when CC certification was attained.
1. Make sure the customer has received the English language Operating Instructions (O/I)
shown in the page 9-11.
Important:
・For installations in the EU market, make sure this is the Ricoh-genuine O/I.
・To ensure that the O/Is are Ricoh-genuine, make sure that the part numbers match
those listed in the table on page 9. Also make sure that the contents are Ricoh-
genuine and there is no suspicious point. (The P/N are normally printed on the back
cover).
・Tell the customer that those manuals evaluated for CC certification are
the manuals listed in The list of Operating Instructions (O/I).

SYMPTOM
Toner Bottle replacement message does not disappear even the Toner Bottle is not empty.
Note: The symptom disappears temporarily if the PCDU is replaced but will recur within
approximately 1,000 sheets printed. Once the symptom occurs, it cannot be
resolved unless the toner supply pipe is replaced.
CAUSE
The protective sheet [A] is not removed at machine installation or PCDU replacement. As
a result, toner coagulates and clogs inside the toner supply pipe (machine-side).
Technical Bulletin PAGE: 2/2
Model: Lef-C1 Date: 2-Feb-18 No.: RD259068
SOLUTION
Make sure to remove the protective sheet at machine installation and whenever you
replace the PCDU.
If the symptom has already occurred, replace the toner supply pipe (P/N: D2053212).

FAX documents received via Memory Lock function cannot be printed when the following
set of conditions is met:
Note: FAX documents received when this issue occurs are stored in the machine until the
storage limit is reached. After this point, the machine begins deleting documents beginning
with the oldest ones in storage. Documents in storage can be printed out once the
modified firmware GWFCU version is installed.
CAUSE
Regression of GWFCU Firmware (ver 04.00.00 and 5.00.00).
SOLUTION
Production line:
The modified firmware is applied to the production line.

SYMPTOM
Paper jams (Jam code 065) frequently occur when making duplex prints. The shaft
(D2051155) of the electromagnetic clutch (AX201013) is wet with oil and the problem is
resolved after replacing the clutch.
CAUSE
Oil comes out from the busing of the shaft when the temperature of the bushing increases
by the fusing heat. The oil travels on the shaft and goes into the clutch causing the problem.
SOLUTION
In the field:
Replace the clutch (AX201013) and clean the shaft with dry cloth to remove remaining oil.
Mote:
When the oil from the bushing reaches the clutch causing jam 65, the oil contained in the bushing at that
time is already much less than the original condition. So the problem hardly occurs repeastedly after the
clutch is once replaced.
PARMANENT COUNTERMESURE:
The bushing used for production will be changed to one that contains less oil.

SYMPTOM
Paper exit jams (Jam code 020) occur frequently, especially when the inside of the printer
is cold (such as in the morning).
CAUSE
The heat from the fusing process causes the oil-based components in the toner to
evaporate and gradually accumulate on the shaft of the exit sensor feeler. If the inside of
the printer is cold, the oil solidifies and interferes with the movement of the feeler.
SOLUTION
Production line (permanent):
Two plastic seals [A] (D2054409) were added to cover the opening of the fusing unit guide
(which will block the airflow toward the sensor).
