One day I saw a girl who wanted to cross the street. The traffic light was red, so she could
have walked across, but she didn’t. I decided to walk over to her and see what was happening. She
was blind. So, I tapped her on the shoulder and led her across the street.
She thanked and gave me a burger. She said, “I made it myself. Hope you like it.” Then she
continued walking. I ate the burger. It was the most delicious burger in town.
The following day, I saw the girl selling burgers at a stall. I noticed that she had a sign on a
box. The sign said “I am blind. Please put your money in the box, and take your change yourself.”
I bought another burger and put the money in the box.
I learned from that girl that being eyeless does not mean being helpless. She proved that she
could do her job independently. I felt ashamed that I still asked my parents for money and got angry
if they didn’t give it. I felt very thankful that I met that girl. She was inspiring and really motivated
me to change my ways.

Long ago, there lived a boy who used to do plenty of different jobs to earn money for his
education. One day when he was doing his job he felt hungry. He was starving to the level
that he could barely walk. By gathering some strength, he walked up to a house door and
requested a glass of water to satisfy his hunger. The young girl who opened the door for
him was shocked to see the poor boy’s condition. She decided to give him a glass of milk
instead of water. The famished boy gulped the milk and thanked the girl for her kind gesture.
After several years, the girl was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder. She had to go
to the city’s best hospitals. Dr Kevin was the in-charge of the girl’s case and treated her.
After several months of treatment, therapy, and determination from the doctor’s side, he
was able to cure her illness. When the time to pay the bills came, the girl got nervous.
However, she later found herself shocked after seeing that her bill was crossed out and
cancelled. At the bottom of the paper, there was a note scribbled that said, “Bill paid in full,
years ago, with a glass of milk!” The girl remembered the young boy she had helped years
ago and felt happy.

Obesity
About 22% of 12- to 19-year-olds in the U.S. are obese, according to Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC) data. Hispanic and Black children are more likely to be overweight
or obese than White or Asian children.
Overweight children and teens are often targeted by bullies. Obese teens also are at a much
greater risk of lifelong health problems, such as diabetes, arthritis, cancer, and heart disease. They
also may struggle with body image issues or develop eating disorders as an unhealthy way of
changing their appearance.
Parents are not always aware of these issues. Surveys show parents are bad at recognizing
when their kids are overweight. They tend to underestimate their child's size and the risks
associated with being overweight.
Talk to your pediatrician about the weight and body mass appropriate for teen's height and
age and inquire about the steps you can take to ensure your health. Then, if your doctor does
recommend a healthier eating plan or exercise, find ways to support and empower your teen.
