Topic: Food,Water & Agriculture

Aim: To raise awareness on the problems related to Food, Water & Agriculture

There are 735 million people who suffer from Malnutrition, around 2 billion people do
not have access to clean drinking water and due to excessive use of fertilisers and
pesticides on the vegetables and fruits that we grow, the food we consume turns into
poison. After the harvest the land is burned to regain new nutrients but we forget the
amount of emissions. Slowly and steadily the soil nutrients and air quality of these
areas are getting worse. All these factors have a tremendous impact on the only
planet that is available to mankind and various species that are dependent on it.

Our team focused on raising awareness on these things through social media,
websites and activities conducted in our school as well as providing to the poor who
do not have access to the basic needs. The team started with distributing the roles of
each person and I got the role of “Getting information and analysing the data
provided by each and every individual from our team“. The first thing I did was to
separate the topic into 3 different parts i.e Water, Food and Agriculture so that I could
efficiently work on each and everyone of them individually. My first task was to get
information regarding Water. I started going through different websites and finding
issues on national or global scales. I did this for each and everyone of them. Once I
got all the information I sent the data in a google document to the presentation
section of our team so that they could make it more presentable to the audience.
Then me and my team started preparing activities such as Wordles, going out to
provide food to the poor and conducting e-sport events to raise money. At the end of
this process I made a website containing this information.

The presentation was made very well by my teammates and the data that was
provided by me was displayed remarkably well. I am proud to say our team's hard
work paid off. The website also came out very well even though there was a time
constraint. All the activities conducted were executed successfully.

However success is not achieved without any failures, there were times when the
team was not coordinating effectively and this made the team lose a lot of precious
time. Our main issue was time and luck. Sometimes when one person doesn’t
complete his/her task the whole team’s part gets delayed by a significant amount of
time. And as luck, during the esport event the electricity went out on the first day. So
due to that on the second day the event was extended and a few players had to be
paid back as they never got a chance to play. It was certainly not our day. But we
pulled it off anyway and we got through the crisis together.

On a Global Perspective our team analysed a lot of issues throughout the globe and
got a ton of information regarding the topic and the result of this was that it widened
our way of how we saw the world. People sitting inside air conditioned rooms,
enjoying the cool winds, can never imagine the pain of a farmer who struggles to
maintain his crops each year so that he could feed his family and country. He is the
one who walks barefoot on the rough fields, he is the one who doesn't care about his
own wellbeing and sacrifices his precious time for the privileged. We tried our best to
spread word about this through a large distribution of posters on a local level. We
created websites that are currently global and are being noticed by many. We made
great efforts to make a mark on both Local and National Perspectives.

Leaving the drawbacks aside I learned a lot from these activities; I learned about
time management, the issues in our country, the solutions to the issues and the best
part, team work. I enjoyed this time with my team. There were ups and downs on this
journey but we stood for each other even in the toughest times. I learned many
things about my friends as well and got to know them even better. I got to know
about public opinion and I may use these to my advantage in the future if I am
thinking of starting up a NGO of some sort and I will also look forward to projects and
activities like these and next time I would come out with an even better outcome.
