This remarkable and rare instrument is very similar in style to the beautiful small model viola by
Ferdinand Gagliano sold through these rooms on December 13th 2010 - this should not be surprising
as looking at the label of this instrument it clearly states that he was the son of Ferdinand, rather than
of Alessandro as is sometimes claimed.

circumstances shall we be required to pay the Buyer any more than the
amount paid by him for the Lot concerned and the Buyer shall have no
claim for interest. The benefit of this guarantee is not capable of being
transferred, and is solely for the benefit of the person to whom the original
invoice was made out by us in respect of the Lot when sold and who,
since the sale, has remained the owner of the Lot without disposing of any
interest in it to any third party. We shall be entitled to rely on any scientific
or other process to establish that the Lot is not a Forgery, whether or not
such process was used or in use at the date of the auction.
