Is there hope beyond suffering?

#1: LIVE A LIFE OF GREAT DEDICATION

Follow God wholeheartedly, even when others will not. Ten of the 12 spies wavered out of fear. Only
Joshua and Caleb came out with a good report (see Numbers 13). They didn’t believe that God is big
enough to help them.
Caleb demonstrated wholehearted pursuit of God is lifelong and continually vigorous. (even at 85
retirement is not on Caleb’s mind; asked for the Anakites- land with the giants, the hard-to-conquer).
Live a life of great dedication like Caleb.

#2: LIVE A LIFE OF GREAT EXPECTATION

Caleb wanted Mount Hebron, the best land. But many would be afraid since many strong Anakites
still live there.
Caleb had an expectation that transcends time- 45 years ago the promise God made through Moses,
refused to let it die through time. Expectations that reflect a big God.
In Joshua 14:12: ‘with the LORD helping me’. Caleb to know that to win, God is needed.
45 years ago, the ten spies only saw the size of the enemies. But Caleb saw the size of the LORD.

#3: LIVE A LIFE OF GREAT INSPIRATION

Caleb’s request to conquer the fortified land inspired the younger people, as they have more hope now
that the most difficult part has been settled.
