Afrah Nasir Assignment 1

Pakistan economy has come a long way since the day of independence. Each
sector has shown significant growth in the economy, but the underlying
problems are yet to be solved. Following are the list of few of the problems
Pakistan faces today and how we can solve them.
1. Education:
Many of the problems Pakistan faces today is because of its weak
education system. It has become an education system where rote learning
is prioritized over understanding and gaining knowledge. Other than that
gender discrimination, poverty, regional disparity and allocation of low
funds are only a few factors that contribute to the weak education system
in Pakistan. These problems can be solved if the government takes solid
steps to implement a well-planned and groomed schooling system
throughout the nation. Allocation of funds should be made easy in all the
regions. Other than that technical education should be given to all classes
and workshops for teachers must also be implemented to improve the
teaching methods.

2. Healthcare
Healthcare in Pakistan is identified as one of the most corrupt sectors in
Pakistan. Taking bribes, refusing to provide services to poor patients, lack
of resources etc. There is a huge gap in private and public health sector of
Pakistan since private sector provide fine treatment every other citizen
wishes to get one of those finest treatment, but it is very hard for
individuals to afford it. So, both upper class and lower-class individuals
prefer to go for govt hospitals where free treatment is provided but the
lack of sanitation and resources deprive the poor and needy of these
facilities. In order to solve this problem, the government should
implement a sustainable quality healthcare system which is cost effective
patient centered, safe and efficient.

3. Unemployment:
This issue has been going on for several years due to this poverty rates
has increased, and people are resorted to stealing in order to fulfill their
financial needs, so crime rates has also risen. Lack of opportunities,
experience and investment along with the poor education system has
given rise to the unemployment rates in Pakistan. These can be solved if
the government sets up an environment where industrialist can expand

their industries instead of choosing to expand abroad. The government

should also give benefits to the investors so that they can invest more in
Pakistan this way more employment opportunities can be provided to
people of Pakistan. other than that, if the government or high officials
provide a platform for youngsters to gain experience and improve their
skills in their respective sectors this can improve their chances of getting
employed both abroad as well as in Pakistan.

4. Water and sanitation

Due to the natural disasters such as earthquakes, droughts, floods etc
that Pakistan faces every year many people are left in need of emergency
water and sanitation. In health centers and schools, ensuring long-term
access to water, sanitation, and hygiene is also a problem. Climate change
and urban development add to the problem of improving access to clean
drinking water and sanitation. To counter this problem Pakistan
government, need to plan a framework that prioritizes and budgets safe
water services and also takes serious actions in ending open defecation
and encourage the use of public toilets by setting small public bath houses
for the homeless and poor. Other than that a public fine should be
implemented for those individuals who litter the streets.
