BACKGROUND
It has been observed that learners lack appreciation and dancing skills for the indigenous dances
in Zimbabwe. This has resulted in cultural alienation.
This CALA has two parts. Part A and Part B
Part A
 Gather data on dances in Zimbabwe
 Choose a dance of your choice
 collect costumes and instruments used in a specific dance
Part B
 Perform the dance before the class
 Produce a write up on findings

You are going to be assessed on

CALA DESCRIPTION
Collect data on the history of a particular dance in Zimbabwe and perform the dance sequence.
- You will work in groups
- Gather data, costumes and instruments
- Produce a write up of the chosen dance outlining the name of the
dance, origin, costumes worn, instruments used, music,purpose of the
dance and how it influences the community
- Lastly carry out the performance
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED

You are going to be assessed in:-


- Collecting costumes and instruments for the chosen dance (10)
- Performing the dance (20)
- Producing a write up on your findings (20)

CALA TIPS
- Try to improvise instruments and costumes
- Make use of elders in the community to gather information
try to find a resource person to demonstrate the dances
- Use the internet to gather more information on the dance
- Write props, attire, history of dance
