BACKGROUND
A lot of fabric is left over after constructing garments and may end up as waste which pollutes
the environment. Design an item which shows the creative use of waste material from the textile
industry.
THE CALA
The CALA has two separate part Part A and Part B. You need to complete both parts.
PART A
 Research on the sources of waste in the textile industry. In your research include actual
house hold items of your findings.
PART B
 Using the information in Part A, design and make a household item using textile waste.
HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSSED
 To assess your presentation, your facilitator will consider your research materials and
explanations about your design as well as your findings that you have made.
 Achievement standards specific to this CALA will be provided so that you are aware of
the assessment criteria.
