FOURTH QUARTER
TOPIC: Trigonometry
MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES:
1. Illustrate the six trigonometric ratios: sine, cosine, tangent, secant, cosecant, and cotangent.
2. Solve right triangles: (2) given the length of the hypotenuse and the measure of one acute angle. (3)
given the length of one leg and the measure of one acute angle, (4) given the lengths of two legs
This lesson deals with the second case of solving right triangles. Again, solving a right triangle means finding
the measure of its remaining parts” This time, given the length of one leg and the measure of one acute
angle
Case 2: Solving the Right Triangle given are the length of the hypotenuse and the measure of one acute angle.
The Right triangle ∆ ABC above has AC as its hypotenuse and ∠C as its one acute angle.
To determine its missing parts, remember that a triangle has Three side and three angles.
So, in this case, the missing parts are the two legs of the right triangle and its one acute angle.
Illustrative Example.
Find the measurement of the missing parts of the right triangle ∆ QSR
Given: s = 28 – hypotenuse Q
m ∠Q = 40ᵒ - acute angle
S q R
1. Find ∠R.
2. Find r.
3. Find q.
