A VIBRANT ART STORY
Showcasing thoughtful and engaging artworks, the one-of-its-kind public art
narrative at Jio World Centre plays a unique role of telling stories through
visual arts, social history and installations.
With growth and community as the theme, the artworks have been specially
selected and created to both, highlight the past and celebrate the future.
The mission is to make the arts accessible to everyone, and in this way,
trigger emotions and engage with everyone who views them. By seamlessly
integrating architecture with public art, Jio World Centre creates a visually
stimulating environment that weaves the arts into the social fabric of daily
conversations, connects communities, transforms the area, and brings
creativity to life.
N. S Harsha: Centered around the concept of community, N.S.Harsha’s larger-than-life installation recalls how people turn their gaze to the
sky to try and try to read their future. His work invites people to mirror this act but to do so as a community and not as an individual. He
encourages viewers to share in the journey of life by asking: Who are we, and Where are we going.
Jagannath Panda: The work ‘Infinity’, which represents an interdependent relationship between man and nature, is defined by the idea that
‘contribution is growth’. Mutually reliant on each other, both culture and nature still strive to maintain their autonomous identities. Based on
six principles, which include Certainty, Diversity, Significance, Love/Connection, Growth and Contribution, the work is conceptualised as a
constellation of time and space through various patterns of circles.
Jitish Kallat: ‘Here After Here’, is an artwork that is similar to a piece the artist created for a public roundabout in Lower Austria. The artwork
is loop-like to reference the mythic symbol of ouroboros, ancient eternal knots, alchemical diagrams and sacred geometry, while stretched
traffic signage recalls cities across the world and the distance to each from ‘here’ to ‘there’. As one goes towards the top of the artwork
distances from here to space become visible.
Vibha Galhotra: ‘City Obscure’ encapsulates Galhotra's experience with the city of Mumbai while showcasing its many dichotomies. By
investigating its identity, politics and culture through its historical and colonial past in the fast-growing, globalised India, it weaves a
fascinating contradicting and complex construct where life happens no matter what, and where one experiences this constant construction,
deconstruction, and reconstruction of structure. She constructed the work using leitmotif ghungroos (small ankle bells) that are often used
in jewellery. The material is used in such a way that its materiality is transformed from being a material of sound and movement to becoming
a static one that is sewn together as pixels to create an image.
Yayoi Kusama: ‘The Clouds, 2019’, by this sculptor, filmmaker and performer, is a sprawling sculptural installation consisting of 90 organically
shaped clouds made of stainless steel that are displayed on the ground to mirror the sky. It represents a cosmological dreamscape in which
she explores the sublime through the lens of the personal. With no instructions on how to install the work, The Clouds is a fluid
manifestation of an ever-expanding infinity.
Reena Saini Kallat: ‘Closet Quarries’ is a series of paintings made using rubber stamps, which reference the great inlay patterns of Mughal
architectural monuments found in India. The rubber stamps carry the names of the craftsmen and symbols seen in these monuments, and
beautifully intercept the austere inlay patterns through text and symbols evoking notions of labour, memory and the submerged, factual,
and fictional, histories and myths that surround monument-making.

myriad of colours. The mesmerising combination of water, light,
mist and sound creates a magical display that is unforgettable,
making this a must-see destination in the city.
