1. Working out the conjugation
- Look at endings of 1st two parts of verb given - 1st conj= o/are - 2nd conj = ______ - 3rd conj = _______ - 4th conj = _______ 2. Infinitive - You are given 3 principle parts of the verb e.g. porto, portare, portavi - The infinitive is the _____ principle part 3. Imperative - Form the singular imperative from the _____________ . Remove the -re - Form the plural imperative by taking the singular imperative and adding _______ - NB 3rd conjugation plural remove -e and add -ite (trahite) 4. Forming the present tense - Use the _____ principle part of the verb given. Write this in the space marked _____ - Remove the -o and add the endings for the other present tense forms (-s, -t etc) - NB 1st conjugation remember to add ‘a’ from 2nd person on (porto, portas, portat …) - NB 3rd conjugation add -i before s,t, like ‘trahis, trahit…’ watch out for 3rd person pl like trahunt - NB 4th conjugation watch out for 3rd person pl like ‘audiunt’ 5. Forming the imperfect tense - Use the infinitive (the ______ principle part) - Remove -re - Add ‘ba’ - Add the personal ending (m, s, t etc.) NB 4th conjugation has extra e before ba endings 6. Forming the perfect tense - Use the _______ principle part of the verb given. Write this in the space marked __________ - Remove the -i and add the endings for the other perfect tense forms e.g -isti, -it 7. Translation – you may be given any of the tenses, infinitive, imperatives. - Check ending – infinitives end in -re and translate ‘to….’ - Check who is doing the action for other forms of the verb
