Americas is called the Columbian Exchange.

2. -Old World refers to a part of the world that was known to its citizens
before it came into contact with the Americans.

-The New World refers to the western hemisphere, especially the


Americas, after the European “age of discovery” beginning in the
early 16th century.

3. -The spreading of diseases: Many Native Americans were killed by


diseases brought by the Europeans. Small Pox was one of the diseases
brought by the Europeans.

-Murder of the Natives: Around 90% of Native Americans died as a


result of contact with the Europeans. When the Europeans came to
the Americas they murdered and enslaved the Natives.

-Enslavement of the Natives: Natives worked under the Encomienda


system where they had to work under harsh conditions and were
mistreated.
