The All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) is a unique event that brings together police officers
from across the country to showcase their skills, exchange ideas, and compete in a range of
activities. The 66th edition of the event was hosted by Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal city, with
24 teams from across the country participating, including the BSF, CRPF, SSB, and Railway
Protection Force.
The history of the AIPDM dates back to 1953 when it began as a Rifle and Revolver
shooting competition in Nagpur. Over time, the event has evolved to its present form,
covering various events such as scientific aids to investigation, wireless transmissions,
police photography and videography, anti-sabotage check, ambulance drill, computer
awareness, and police dog squad competitions.
A central coordination committee was formed to regulate rules and procedures for the sports
competitions of the Meet. However, most states shared their feedback that it was difficult to
organise the meet at one place because of competitions held in several disciplines,
attracting a large number of participants. Therefore, the regulatory body decided to split the
Police Meet into three parts: Rifle and Revolvers Shooting Competition, Band Competition,
and AIPDM.
