The All India Police Duty Meet: Fostering Collaboration, Professional Development,

and Skill Showcasing

The All India Police Duty Meet (AIPDM) is a unique event that brings together police officers
from across the country to showcase their skills, exchange ideas, and compete in a range of
activities. The 66th edition of the event was hosted by Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal city, with
24 teams from across the country participating, including the BSF, CRPF, SSB, and Railway
Protection Force.

History and significance:

The history of the AIPDM dates back to 1953 when it began as a Rifle and Revolver
shooting competition in Nagpur. Over time, the event has evolved to its present form,
covering various events such as scientific aids to investigation, wireless transmissions,
police photography and videography, anti-sabotage check, ambulance drill, computer
awareness, and police dog squad competitions.

A central coordination committee was formed to regulate rules and procedures for the sports
competitions of the Meet. However, most states shared their feedback that it was difficult to
organise the meet at one place because of competitions held in several disciplines,
attracting a large number of participants. Therefore, the regulatory body decided to split the
Police Meet into three parts: Rifle and Revolvers Shooting Competition, Band Competition,
and AIPDM.

Strengthening the Indian Police Forces through AIPDM:

One of the key objectives of the AIPDM is to promote greater collaboration and cooperation
among police officers from different parts of India. This is achieved through a range of
team-based competitions that require officers to work together to solve complex problems
and complete challenging tasks. The event also provides an opportunity for police officers to
showcase their skills and expertise in front of their peers and senior officials, which can
contribute to their career advancement.
The AIPDM is an important event for strengthening the Indian police forces, as it provides a
platform for professional development and collaboration. The AIPDM is an excellent example
of how events and competitions can be used to drive excellence and innovation in law
enforcement. By bringing together officers from different parts of the country, the event helps
to build stronger and more effective police forces, ultimately benefiting the citizens of India.
