Telling Your Experience in Watching a Sport Event
When you’re telling your friend about the sport event you attended last time, you are
producing a recount text. A recount text tells the audience or reader someone’s
experience in form of a set of events that happened in the past.

Regular and Irregular Verbs (part 1)
The simple past tense shows the action whether the verb is regular or irregular. Most
happened in the past, or the events that regular past simple forms are formed by

A recount text retells an event or an experience in the past for the readers’
information or enjoyment. A recount can tell a particular part of an event or a series
of events (an entire story). Recount texts are either spoken or written.

General Structure of a Recount Text

In general, a recount text is built in three sections: orientation, series of events, and
re-orientation.
The orientation tells the background information, such as who were involved,
where, and what happened.

C. Writing and Presenting
Simple Past Tenses
A recount text commonly uses simple past tense. A simple past tense is formed by
using regular or irregular verbs in Verb 2 form (past simple form).

Do the following task individually.
1. You are going to do a project called “I am the Reporter”. You are going to
pretend as a sport reporter.
2. Do a research how a sport reporter usually make an interview.
3. Decide a sport event you want to write your report on.
4. Write your questions.
5. Ask your friends, family member, or a random person with the questions you
have made earlier.
6. Write the answers, then present the result as a proper presentation in front of
the class.

Group Project 2
Work in a group of four to do this project.
1. You are going to do a project called “Pictures Story” converting one of your
group member’s recount text to a strip comic.
2. Prepare the text as several pointers.
3. Make a draft of the comic script. Focus on the series of events, visual imagery,
and the writer’s emotion.
4. Draw your comic book. You can either draw it yourself, take pictures of you
acting as the comic panels, or take pictures from internet.
5. Present you work to the class, and publish it on your social media.
