Overview
Completion of this workshop involves:
• Recording a script
• Importing an external file and creating the geometry
• Creating Named Selections
• Playing the recording
• Changing some parameters
• Changing the external file

3
Starting the recording
• Start the last versión of SpaceClaim
• Change units to meters
• Start a new script File > New > Script
• Start the recording

4
Creating the geometry
• Drag and drop the file called ‘naca64a0.txt’ from the corresponding ‘inputs’ file

• Switch to 3D mode and copy the curve

• Move the curve in the – y direction of 1m and then, paste the previously copied curve

5
Creating the geometry
• Notice how the script is being written in the right window after each operation

6
Creating the geometry
• Click on the Blend tool, select the two curves,
and hit the green check mark to create the
Surface body.

• Click on the ‘Missing Faces’ tool and hit the

green check mark to create a solid

7
Creating the geometry
• Right click on the curves in the tree and delete them

• Select the solid and go to the prepare tab and click on Enclosure. Hit the check mark

Creating the geometry
• Right click on the solid in the tree and delete it

• Create the three following named selections

Walls Inlet

Outlet

9
Stop the Recording and Run the script
• Stop the recording by clicking on the red button again

• Check the created script

• In order to delete the created geometry and to rebuild it from scratch, we will mainly add in the beginning
of the script: ‘ClearAll()’

• Run the script

Changing parameters
• Now we are going to change some parameters. To start with, we will create a shorter wing. Change the
distance to -0.5m and rerun the script

Changing parameters
• Besides, in order to be able to study the wake after the airfoil, we will extend the enclosure backwards.
Change the last dimension of the enclosure to 1m.
