The easiest way to distinguish African elephants from Asian elephants is to look at
the ears. African elephants have much larger ears that look sort of like the continent
of Africa, while Asian elephants have smaller, round ears. Elephants’ ears dissipate
their body heat, and African elephants need to dissipate more heat than Asian
elephants, since they live in a hotter climate. African elephants and Asian elephants
also differ in head shape. African elephants have rounded heads, while Asian
elephants have a twin-domed head, which means there’s a divot line running up the
head. Finally, you can look at the tusks. Both male and female African elephants can
have tusks, but only male Asian elephants can grow them. It’s important to note,
however, that not all male Asian elephants nor all African elephants necessarily
develop tusks.

Please, comment on the principles of textuality employed in the text given below.
For the most part, Casey loved her little bungalow. It was the perfect size for her, and walking distance
from the train, a small locally owned supermarket, and a great Mom & Pop breakfast diner. The only
problem was that a string of previous tenants had left their mark in the DIY projects of dubious quality,
and the buckets of mail they still received at Casey's address.
Monica Volkov was the worst one. For all the other ghosts of tenants past, Casey only received ad
mailers and the occasional request for a charity donation, but for Monica Volkov, she always got
serious stuff: envelopes that clearly contained hospital bills or insurance policies, even the occasional
package. It was almost as if Monica Volkov had never bothered to tell anyone she didn’t live there any
more.

Текст відповіді
For the most part, and, and, or - transition
loved, was, had left, received, got - grammatical cohesion past tense
Monica Volkov, Monica Volkov, Monica Volkov - repetition, lexical cohesion
perfect - the worst - lexical cohesion anonymity
hospital bills, insurance policies - lexical cohesion similarity
It, they, she- anaphoric reference to bungalow, tenants, Monica
For all the other - but for Monica Volkov - cohesion similar construction

Please, comment on the principles of textuality employed in the text given below.
For 16 years, "mad bomber" George Metesky eluded New York City police. Metesky planted more than
30 small bombs around the city between 1940 and 1956, hitting movie theaters, phone booths and other
public areas.
In 1956, the frustrated investigators asked psychiatrist James Brussel, New York State's assistant
commissioner of mental hygiene, to study crime scene photos and notes from the bomber. Brussel
came up with a detailed description of the suspect: He would be unmarried, foreign, self-educated, in
his 50s, living in Connecticut, paranoid and with a vendetta against Con Edison--the first bomb had
targeted the power company's 67th street headquarters.
While some of Brussel's predictions were simply common sense, others were based on psychological
ideas. For instance, he said that because paranoia tends to peak around age 35, the bomber, 16 years
after his first bomb, would now be in his 50s. The profile proved dead on: It led police right to Metesky,
who was arrested in January 1957 and confessed immediately.
