THE NEW MARKET
Mrs. Tuko went to the new market last week. Eze went with her to help her carry the
things she went to buy. Eze was going to the new city market for the first time, they
always weighed food like potatoes, yams, plantain and beans on a scale. Eze thought it
was strange because in his village, they always put such food on the ground. They put
beans in big bowls and use milk tins to measure them.
Mrs. Tuko bought five kilograms of potatoes. Eze loved looking at the scale when
the traders were using it.
Mrs. Tuko also bought twenty kilograms of brown beans. Then she went to the people

15 9
1 x 5 + 32 ------ (4mrks)
= 27 + 32 = 590f ---------- (4mrks)
Total 10 marks
5. No of eggs = 45 (1mrk)
Ratio = 4: 5 (1mrk)
Total share = 4 + 5 = 9 (1mrk)
5 455
a. Miracle’s share = 9x 1

= 20 eggs (31/2 mrks)

5 45
b. Blessings share = 9x 1

= 25 eggs (31/2)
6. Nnenna’s share = 18 (1mrk)
Ada’s share = (2/3 of 18) (1 mrk)
