Proposed title for my project: Game design

What is your inquiry question that interests you for further research? It should be a question that
connects with a purpose, passion or personalized area of interest for you. This is a question that
you cannot just google an answer for. Please see examples from your Capstone booklet.
My inquiry question is:

How do I build a game where it teaches people about the Indigenous community as well as
their history?

Rationale/context: Detail your reasons for choosing this inquiry question. Explain WHY you are
choosing to investigate this topic as a major area of focus. How does this area of inquiry connect
to your passion(s), purpose? Why is it of personal interest to you?

First and formoste, I chose this question because it involves me creating a game out of a new
coding language and teaching the non-indigenous about the indigenous community and their
heritage.

Background: What background knowledge/connections/prior learning do you have in this

area of inquiry?

I have done two courses in school in computer programing and had always had a passion for
coding because I feel like thats where I am free and do create whatever I want and I love
learning about why the indegenous care about their heritage as well as their culutural aspects
such as language and beliefs. I am currently trying to completing an english first people
course so I am actively learning more and more about the Indigenous.

Career connections: What is your intended career area at this point in time? What
connections does this inquiry question have to your life, academic and/ or career goals?

My intended career is a software developer because I love coding and creating things.
Creating this project helps me understand more about the Indigenous and helps others who
are not sure or do not know anyting about the Indigenous understand them better.

I will be using a power point to present my capstone and a website such as

roblox to make my game.

Description of my Capstone project. Specific Project Details of the Capstone Project: what
will you research, create, study, produce, solve, investigate? What product will be produced
at the end of this project for evaluation. Write a one-page description outlining your
proposal.

I will create a roblox game tycoon thats about the Indigenous culture which focuses on
respecting and learning more about the history, tradition, crafts and culturla events. These are
all the topics which I need to research and learn more about to create the storyline and set in
a fictional indigenous village. Players wil manager resources sustainably while respecting the
land and there will be quests and guidance offered for the players to do. Players will
participate in activities like possibly plating trees and cleaning up pollution. For their job, there
will be an entire factor for them to go in and make money simply clicking a button to make
money and once they have a certain amount, then they can buy other thing such as a button
clicker which will produce them money without them having to click anymore. There will be
also educational resources within the game suuch as information panels and interactive
exhibits which will teach players about indigenous history, language and art. The final product
will be the players actually giving feedback by sharing they experience overall.

Resources/ Technology/Skills: Make an assessment of the resources, technology and

skills you will need to be able to complete this project. What is your plan to be able to
access/learn all of the resources necessary to achieve completion of this project? Detail
your plans.

 The resources that I need for this project are roblox studio, game development, graphic
design and knowledge of the indigenous community. I plan to learn all these resources by
searching online for tutorials and courses provided by the roblox and other game
development. I have to practice continously and learn the code of Lua while getting help from
my mentors such as my english teacher and computer programming teacher.

Mentors/Community Connections: What types of mentor(s)/community connections will

you need to help you complete your capstone project? How will your mentor(s) help you?
What is your plan to access the mentorship/community connections necessary for this
project?

For the coding aspect of this project I will be getting my computer proragmming teacher to be
my mentor where she can help me make a flow chart for the coding and desgin of the game.
My english teacher will help me by providing me with more information about the indignous
culture and traditions. She will teach me about their traditional crafts and activites as well as
their education.

Project limitations: What are some project limitations and potential obstacles that you foresee
that might affect progress with your Capstone Project?

I might not be able to finish the game as I might run out of time vy researching the code and
information about the indigenous but I will try my best. I might run into technical challenges
because the code of roblox studio is extremly hard to learn due to its complexities. I want to
be able to ensure accurate representaion and respectful protrayal of the indegous cultural as
well. I might even have to pay money to have a game as large as mine into the roblox game.
