Course Description:
This 42 minute course is a mixed seventh and eighth grade resource room for classified
students. This course is a mix of remedial skills, organizational skills, study strategies, and
homework time. This class relies heavily on collaboration with other teachers to make sure
students are on top of their school work. This class runs similar to a workshop model- whole
group instruction runs usually from 15-20 minutes and the remaining minutes of the period are
split between independent work and homework for other courses. Please see unit plans for
progression of lessons and use of homework periods.

Course Materials:
Students should bring:
1. Their chromebook and charger daily,
2. Writing utensils
3. Study Skills binder. This binder is to maintain any handouts given in class.
4. Planner

Homework Periods: These are full periods of strict time to complete homework. This is to be
done independently and when there are major assignments or tests that need to be completed
for their other classes. These are typically given Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday, once a
week to ensure students are caught up on all their homework assignments. These homework
periods are crucial closer to mid-marking period and the week leading up to the end of the
