Assim:

FUTURE - will

Examples: “Adjustment of gain on eddy current instrument will modify correction factor.”

“Readjustments may be required during calibration or root inspection. This will

not affect correction factor.”

E como se forma o “Future”?

Com “WILL” + o verbo principal no infinitivo sem “TO”.

SUJEITO + WILL + VERB (INFINITIVO SEM “TO”)

They will approve the repair.

O “will” funciona como o auxiliar no “simple present”.

Assim:

AFIRMATIVA These cracks will affect the performance.

NEGATIVE These cracks will not affect the performance.

INTERROGATIVE Will these cracks affect the performance?

1. The SB will include the procedures.

ADJECTIVES

“ … wear clean white gloves for …”
“ … use luvas brancas limpas para …”

“Place the fixture on flat surface …”

referem.

flat surface superfície plana

clean gloves luvas limpas

FLAT e CLEAN são exemplos de adjetivos. Outros exemplos são:

COMPARATIVES

+
• NOS ADJETIVOS QUE TÊM UMA SÍLABA (ÀS VEZES DUAS):

adjetivo com o sufixo “ER” + “THAN”

“ … the length must be greater than the dimensions shown in …”

“MORE” + adjetivo + “THAN”

“ Handling this lubricant can be more dangerous than …”

_ “THAN” é a palavra
mágica. Não se
esqueça dela.

“LESS” + adjetivo + “THAN”

“ This angle should be as close to 20o as possible.”

SUPERLATIVE

Na unidade 5 vimos “Comparatives”. A estrutura do “Superlative” é basicamente a mesma.

Vamos relembrar?

Normal Comparative Superlative

GOOD BETTER THAN THE BEST
bom melhor que o melhor
BAD WORSE THAN THE WORST
mau / ruim pior que o pior

E como se forma o “superlative”?

+
• NOS ADJETIVOS QUE TÊM UMA SÍLABA (ÀS VEZES DUAS):

“THE” + adjetivo com o sufixo “EST”

“ Put the lightest blade at the No. 2 …”

“Coloque a ‘blade’ mais leve no número 2 …”

• NOS ADJETIVOS COM DUAS SÍLABAS OU MAIS:

“THE MOST” + adjetivo

“ This lubricant is the most efficient among …”

“Este lubrificante é o mais eficiente entre …”

_ "THE" é a palavra
mágica. Não se
esqueça dela.

“THE LEAST + adjetivo

“This lubricant is the least efficient among …”

“Este lubrificante é o menos eficiente entre …”

SIMPLE PAST

aconteceram no passado. Ações que não ocorrem mais.

E como se forma o “Simple Past” ?

SUJEITO + INFINITIVO (sem a partícula “TO”) acrescido de “ED”

Some mechanics CHECKED the engine general conditions.

Corrosion DAMAGED the fairing.

pessoas do singular.

auxiliar. Qual é este verbo?

DID
Assim:

DID corrosion damage the fairing?

E qual será o auxiliar da forma negativa?

DID NOT
Assim:

Corrosion DID NOT damage the fairing.

O verbo “TO BE” que estudamos nas unidades anteriores,

PASSIVE VOICE

Compare:

The mechanic assembles the accessory.

The accessory is assembled by the mechanic.

Estas duas orações basicamente significam a mesma coisa.
