#KAMALAYAN PROGRESSIVE WEBINAR SERIES: REFLECTION PAPER

Many meanings exist for stress, but according to Richard Lazarus, stress is a

condition of anxiety caused when activities and obligations outweigh one's coping ability.

The CHED Regional Office 12 conducted #KAMALAYAN Progressive Webinar

Series for students with a theme; Positivity Amidst Difficulty: Coping Strategies for the

Youth in the New Normal. This virtual event was indeed a great help for us students

especially for those struggling of this new normal education. The Speaker of this virtual event

is Mam Margie Fiesta. Mam Margie began her talk by asking, "How do you feel lately?” and

there is a list of emotions there. Many viewers expressed their emotions, and I reacted with

my own views on the issue. She also went on to talk about recent student research about how

the pandemic's impacts have affected their mental health. I was astounded to find that, as of

June 2020, one out of every four people aged 18 to 24 had seriously considered suicide. The

topic of conversation is stress, as well as how to deal with it and what tools should be used to

do so. It was also discussed how we could prepare for the limited face-to-face lessons. In this

online discussion, I learnt a lot, such as how to deal with stress and what the causes of stress

are.

The things I've forcibly taken from this webinar that I'd like to incorporate in my life

are that when I'm in a difficult situation, I should know how to look for ways to cope. I

should interact with others, enjoy God's creations by looking at nature, make time for myself,
create a schedule, and most importantly, manage my time. Proverbs 17:22 is my best weapon

in dealing with obstacles in this new normal for me. "A joyful heart is good medicine," says

Proverbs 17:22. Laughter relieves pain, boosts performance productivity, strengthens

interpersonal relations, and increases oxygen flow to the heart and brain. Laughter is said to

be the most effective therapy. There's still a lot of proof that laughter is good for our

wellbeing. This new normal has taught me to be grateful whatever the circumstances for God

never allows us to go hungry and still provides for our needs. As a result, I should have a

happy heart.

This webinar series has been very beneficial to us. I'd like to express my gratitude to

CHED Regional 12 for organizing this prestigious event. This webinar series told and

convinced me about various aspects of the term "stress." CHED felt genuine empathy for the

students who organized this program, as well as the speaker who shared her wisdom with us.

This has been a fantastic journey for me, and I am grateful.
