I was burning the midnight oil studying for my SA1 and doing

my project. Actually, I could do it do my project two days ag o,

however, I decided to do it at the eleventh hour. I started to get
sleepier and sleepier second by second. A week ago, my
teacher gave my whole class a few practise papers to complete,
but I forgot about the practice papers and had to do them at
2A.M in the morning after completing my project. Right after
finishing my project unexpectedly, at 3 A.M, I could not handle
my heavy eyelids and fell asleep.

In the blink of an eye, it was 6 A.M and my mother was

waking me up. I had to start getting ready for school. While
showering, I remembered that I did not complete my
homework and that I did not prepare enough for my English
exam. I was feeling very tired as I had not slept enough. I made
my way to school with a blur vision and even tripping over my
own steps.

Ring! Ring! It was examination period. I was very nervous.

Cold sweat trickled down my forehead when I entered the
examination room. I knew I was done for. During the
examination, I started to feel sleepy again. Soon, my eyelids
started to force themselves to close. In no time, I slept. My
friends sitting around me noticed what happened and were
shocked.

Wake up! Wake up! My teacher yelled at me with a frown

on her face. She then asked me to meet her after class. It then
dawned on me that I slept throughout the examination period
and did not complete the paper. After lesson that day, I was
scolded by my teacher, Ms Tan, for a whole thirty minutes
because I slept during the exam and did nothing. I knew I was
going to fail.

One week later, I received my examination results. “One

out of hundred!” I sadly exclaimed. When my parents saw my
results, they were livid with fury. I could see fire coming out of
their head. After scolding me for a whole hour, they started to
teach me the importance of punctuality. It was then I realised
the importance of punctuality.

I regretted my actions badly. I then vowed to myself and

to my parents that I will not let the same mistake repeat in the
future and that I will be more punctual with my work and sleep
from then on. This lesson will be etched in my mind forever.
