Subject: Petition to Surround the Shore of the Pond in Ward No. 2, Bansberia Municipality

We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Kalyan Nagar, Shibtala Lane, Bansberia,
Ward No. 2 in Bansberia Municipality, come together to express our earnest plea regarding the
preservation and enhancement of our cherished natural asset - the pond (Kantapukur and Rambabu
Pukur Pond) located in our ward. This pond not only serves as a vital ecosystem but also holds
cultural, recreational, and aesthetic significance for our community.

However, we are deeply troubled by the current state of neglect and degradation that the pond's
shore is facing. The absence of proper infrastructure to protect and enhance the shoreline has
resulted in various issues including erosion, pollution, and encroachment. As responsible stewards of
our environment and custodians of our community's well-being, we believe urgent action is
necessary to address these pressing concerns.

Therefore, we respectfully request the Bansberia Municipality to undertake the following actions:

Construction of a Protective Barrier: We urge the municipality to construct a sturdy and aesthetically
pleasing barrier around the shoreline of the pond. This barrier should serve to prevent erosion,
discourage encroachment, and enhance safety for visitors.

Implementation of Green Buffer Zones: Alongside the protective barrier, we advocate for the
creation of green buffer zones consisting of native vegetation. These zones will not only stabilize the
shoreline but also enhance biodiversity, improve water quality, and provide habitat for local flora and
fauna.

Installation of Waste Management Facilities: To combat pollution and maintain cleanliness around
the pond, we appeal for the installation of adequate waste management facilities such as trash bins
and recycling receptacles. Furthermore, regular garbage collection and cleaning schedules should be
implemented to ensure the pond remains free from litter and debris.

Promotion of Recreational and Educational Activities: The pond should be utilized as a space for
community engagement, recreation, and education. We encourage the municipality to organize
activities such as birdwatching, nature walks, and educational workshops to foster a deeper
appreciation for the pond's ecological importance among residents, especially the younger
generation.

Engagement of Stakeholders: Finally, we emphasize the importance of engaging various stakeholders

including local residents, environmental organizations, and relevant government agencies in the
planning and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the pond and its surroundings.
Transparent communication and collaboration are key to ensuring the long-term success and
sustainability of any efforts undertaken.
