LESSON 1: ACTIVTY 1

Instruction: Answer the following questions below:

1. What is “Dispute”?

- Occurs when two or more people compete over limited resources and/or perceived or actual
incompatible.

2. What is “Resolution”?

- A formal way of stating intended action by a group of people.

3. In your own opinion, how “dispute” affects an organization?

- Its effect is that it contributed in the organization, dispute can be use to facilitate discussion instead
of conflict of disagreement, increases the understanding and control emotional responses.

LESSON 1: ACTIVTY 2

Instruction. Read the story and determine what procedure you would do in solving conflict in

the story.

On a summer day of January 24, 2020, dispute occurred between Minyong and Soling. Minyong,not
knowing that it wasn’t his plant, accidentally cutSoling’s jackfruit tree.

It happened that Soling passed by and she saw upon her very eyes that Minyong is cutting the
particular tree. They had intense verbal arguments all day long until one of them raised complaint in
their village Captain.

1. What is the cause of the dispute between Minyong and Soling?

- When Minyong accidentally cuts Solings jackfruit tree.

2. In your own opinion, what procedure will be done in order to help them resolve or settle their
issues/disputes?

- In my opinion, to help resolve or settle dispute is to keep calm and remain objective. Always remain
calm, polite and professional in your spoken or written communication. Avoid avusive or emotional
language, or laying blame. Try to understand the situation from the other party’s perspective.

1. Why is there a need of dispute resolution in law enforcement?

- It can help the justice system function more efficiently, it gives parties in dispute the
opportunities to work through disputed issues with the help of a neutral third party. It is generally
faster and less expensive than going to court, when used properly it can save a lot of time by
allowing resolution in weeks or months, compared to court which can take years.
2. Explain the very purpose of dispute resolution?

- Resolving disagreement without going to court.
