OBJECTIVE 6: How do you maintain a learning environment that is responsive to your community's context?

Describe the context in your area and share teacher practices that contribute to further improvement of
your community.

A community is a social unit that plays a significant role in molding one’s knowledge, actions, beliefs,
behaviors, and characteristics that provide a sense of belongingness and purpose to its members. As for my
community, it is composed of members with diverse socio-economic statuses, backgrounds, norms, beliefs,
history, and cultures that share a common purpose, practices, and values which is to motivate the members to
exceptional performance.

As a teacher, it is very important to know the community where I belong for a deep understanding of
the differences, strengths, and challenges of the community stakeholders or members. During my 2 years of
teaching in a private institution, I met learners with diverse behaviors, characteristics, and beliefs. The best
practice I did was to build a relationship with the learners and families. This means, having constant
communication with the parents and learners through home visits, meetings, or conferences that tackle the
performances, strengths, needs, and challenges of the learners and getting them involved in school events and
activities. When it comes to teaching pedagogy, I always make sure to integrate experiential learning method
in which learners can share their cultural backgrounds and experiences into the curriculum for a more
meaningful and relatable learning experience. As for myself as a teacher, I also attended seminars and
conferences to continually improve my professional growth and skills through professional development
programs.

As a stakeholder of the community, I can maintain a learning environment that is responsive to the
community’s context through conducting community assessments, partnerships with community
organizations, engaging and collaborating with the community members that share common goals and
objectives, and involving them in the development of the curriculum. It is also important to incorporate
culturally relevant teaching materials and strategies that reflect the community's diverse perspectives and
experiences.

OBJECTIVE 7: How do you develop your teaching practice in accordance with the existing laws that apply to
teaching and the responsibilities specified in the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers? How do you
develop your teaching practice in accordance with existing regulations?

As a teacher, I am expected to adhere to the existing laws and regulations to promote and maintain the
highest standards of professionalism in the teaching profession. Constant reviewing of the existing laws and
regulations of the Code of Ethics for Professional Teachers will help me develop my professional conduct as a
teacher towards the learners to ensure that I am providing a right, non-discrimination, and equal education.
Practicing ethical behaviors towards interaction with the learners contribute to a safe and conducive learning
environment. Staying up-to-date on the required practices will help me identify areas of improvement and
ensure that I am meeting the legal and ethical standards of my profession such as adhering to policies
regarding privacy and confidentiality in learners’ evaluations. My teaching practice is consistently shaped by
the prevailing laws which I strive to uphold the values of fairness, honesty, and respect in all interactions, as
outlined by the Code of Ethics to create an environment that encourages optimal learning and mutual respect.

OBJECTIVE 8: Which practices do you show care, respect, and integrity to learners, colleagues, parents, and
other education stakeholders? How do these practices uphold the dignity of the teaching profession?

As a teacher, I greatly believe that showing care, respect, and integrity to learners, colleagues, parents,
and other education stakeholders are essentials in educational settings. I always strive to uphold these values
to promote optimal learning and mutual respect amongst the stakeholders. For learners, I have to
acknowledge their differences making sure that each of them is seen, heard and valued, and create a learning
environment where they are treated equally with non-discrimination and their inputs and opinions are
acknowledged and respected. I always make sure to integrate differentiated learning materials and inclusive
learning strategies where everyone can participate, learn to the best of their abilities and hone them to their
fullest potentials. For colleagues, I uphold to show professional conduct by giving supportive feedback,
collaborating for school projects and respecting inputs for the development of educational approaches. For
parents, I will make sure to cater their concerns towards the learners through communication, maintain
transparency and offer them opportunities to be involved in their children's educational journey. The same
level of respect extends to other educational stakeholders, whom I engage with in a collaborative and
constructive manner. All these practices uphold the dignity of the teaching profession as they foster a culture
of respect, openness, and integrity, which are key pillars in the field of education.

OBJECTIVE 9: What co-curricular and/or extra-curricular organizations and/or activities did you participate
in, that enabled you to share your knowledge and enhance your teaching practice? How did your
membership in this organization/participation in this activity contribute to your professional development?

As a teacher, I believe that participating in co-curricular and/or extra-curricular organization is a

continuous learning that promotes professional growth and skills for the development of educational
approaches. During my teaching years in a private institution, I participated several times in Teachers’ Congress
organized by CEAP-CEPA (Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines-Cebu Elementary Principals’
Association) which opened opportunities to gain knowledge of the different educational approaches.
Membership in educational organization such as the Teachers’ Congress gave me access to resources,
conferences, and seminars that focus on specific areas of interest or expertise. It also provides me with the
opportunities to network, exchange ideas, and learn from other educators, all of which can help enhance my
teaching practice. The program helped me learned new teaching strategies, techniques, and methods from
other educators and helped me develop new skills and approaches to teaching that I can apply in the
classroom. It also helped me develop my leadership skills, confidence and better understanding of how to
motivate and engage the learners.
