I BA LLB
Danish, a first year student at a reputed Law College, rented a 1BHK flat at Upkar Enclave,
for his residential requirements, near his college.
During the discussions and negotiations related to the said flat, the landlord, Mr. Nags made a
number of statements about the property and its amenities, he spoke highly of its location and
structural condition. He also represented that the property had gone extensive renovations and
had 24 hour water and electricity backup. Before entering into the Rent Agreement, Danish
had also inspected the property with Mr. Nags.
After settling in, he realised there was an acute water shortage and there were issues with
plumbing and electrical wiring, that he believed, were not disclosed by Mr. Nags.
Danish, has now filed a case against Mr. Nags.
Issues:
1. Whether Mr. Nags’ claims about the property constitute fraudulent misrepresentations
under the Law of Contracts?
2. Whether Danish is entitled to revoke the contract?

Paul Atreides, is a start-up enthusiast. On March 18, 2020, he entered into a contract with
Mr.Shaddam, to lease a commercial space in Arrakis Tech Park for his novel start-up idea.
The contract entailed provisions related to the amount of lease, the term of the lease,
maintenance responsibilities etc.
The provision related to the term of lease stated, “… five years with an option to renew for an
additional three years”. (the renewal clause)
Now he intends to exercise his option of extension. However, a dispute has aroused with
respect to the interpretation of the renewal clause and how it should be exercised. Mr.
Atriedes believes that the renewal clause allows him to extend the lease at the same rent
agreed before, on the other hand, Mr. Shaddam claims that renewal has to be altered for a
new rent amount based on market rates at the time of renewal.
Both have disputed each other’s claims and Mr. Atriedes has gone to court.
Issues:
1. Whether the provision related to renewal and extension suffers ambiguity?
2. How should the provision be interpreted?

Westeros is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic. Its political system is
quasi-federal in nature and it also is the world’s largest democracy. Due to a bloody partition
after two centuries of colonial rule, the pluralistic society of Westeros has had a spate of
communal tensions.
Framers of the Westerosi Constitution envisaged the implementation of a Uniform Civil Code
(UCC) at a later date to regulate matters related to marriage, divorce, succession, inheritance,
adoption, maintenance etc. (personal matters). But, its parliament had not framed a law
relating to the same.
One of its states, Northanchal recently enacted a UCC for implementation within its territorial
jurisdiction. Many criticised it as an attack on personal laws which are based on religious
guidelines. These protesters, under the aegis of “Secular Wing”, a citizen organisation, have
filed a writ petition against the Northanchal State in the High Court of Northanchal at
Winterfell.

The state of ‘Akatan Rak’ had a very bad monsoon and received very less rainfall, due to
which, it is facing acute scarcity of water, including drinking water crisis. To avert a
catastrophe, the Government has stopped the discharge of ‘Irevak’ river water through its
dams to the lower riparian state of ‘Limat Udan’.
Due to this, the state of Limat Udan’ has also faced protests from farmers who were
dependent on the ‘Irevak’ river for irrigation and agriculture.
Akatan Rak has further approved construction of more dams within its territorial jurisdiction
to augment water storage, and as such approved tenders, giving environmental clearance at a
hurried pace.
This was objected to by environmental activists and residents of villages, who fear their
villages to get submerged due to the construction of the newer dams.
Both the villagers of Akatan Rak and the Government of Limat Udan have filed separate
petitions in the Supreme Court against the actions of the Akatan Rak Government. The
Supreme Court has clubbed both petitions.

The state of ‘Akatan Rak’ had a very bad monsoon and received very less rainfall, due to
which, it is facing acute scarcity of water, including drinking water crisis. Its capital
Lagneburu, the renowned silicon valley of the country has seen a spurt in the demand for
private water tanker supply.
Due to the prevailing situation, Lagneburu Owners of Water Tankers Association (LOWTA)
has hiked the prices of water by 50 percent, citing difficulty in accessing clean water and
logistical challenges to disbursement of the same as well as increased demand offering
competitive prices to them.
Sensing an impending catastrophe, the Government of Akatan Rak (GoAR), issued a
Government Order dated, February 14, 2024 (G.O. 14/02/24), temporarily rescinding all trade
licenses related to water tankers and taking them over in public interest to be run as a state
enterprise under Akatan Rak Water Supply Board (ARWSB).

“Alkebulan '' is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic republic having a quasi-federal

structure. Since 2014, United Nationalist Paksha (UNP) has been in power and as part of its
manifesto, it enacted the Citizenship Amendment Act in 2019 (CAA) to relax citizenship
requirements for people fleeing from certain neighbouring countries like Gaul, Byzantium,
Galatia, Bongdesh etc. The action witnessed protests as it was claimed to be discriminatory
by certain sections of the society.
However, the CAA was not in effect as the Government took time to frame rules under the
said Act.
On March 15, 2024; the Government notified rules under the CAA and made the Act
applicable all across the country.
In one of its states, “Abyssinia”, ruled by the Federal Liberal Sangha (FLS), the Chief
Minister publicly criticised the CAA Rules and stated that Abyssinia will not implement the
CAA.
The central government implemented ‘President’s rule’ in the state over this remark. The
Abyssinian state government filed a petition against the said decision in the Supreme Court.

marrying Ms. Rumana, his therapist. Atika acceded to the request. He paid a dower of ₹ 2,

1. Seven Kingdoms was a democratic country with a pluralistic society. It had adherents
of all faiths, chiefly of the ‘Old Gods’ as well as the ‘Faith of the Seven’.
2. Tyrion Baelish, is a world-famous painter from the town of King's Landing. King’s
Landing was renowned as the birthplace of the many faced God, who is depicted in
popular culture and mythology as someone with blue complexion with a playful
boyish charm.
3. King’s Landing is also known as the place in which the religious figures Aegon and
Halaena were buried. Aegon had married Halaena and both were revered as the
saintly couple who brought the ‘Faith of the Seven’ to the Seven Kingdoms and as
such were deeply respected.
4. As per the religious ‘Faith of the Seven’ doctrine, except for the seven manifestations,
no one had to be worshipped or revered and no saints should be depicted in any form
as human-like as it amounts to apostasy and strict punishments were prescribed like
chopping the head, stoning etc.
5. Tyrion painted a new painting, depicting the union of Aegon and Halaena, calling it
“the Divine Love”. Here, Aegon was depicted with boyish charm, having bluish skin .
6. Followers of both faiths were enraged by the painting and protests ensued. Groups
were demanding the beheading of Tyrion and he was called a monster who would
burn the peace of the Seven Kingdoms.
7. The Government of the Seven Kingdoms, moved to swiftly place a ban on the
sale/exhibition of the painting.
