Solutions
1. B
Sol. Total number of students = (Position of Andrew from left + Position of Andrew from right) – 1

Total number of students = (32 + 41) – 1 = 72

2. C
Sol. Number of persons between Martha and Sara = Total number of persons – (Martha’s position + Sara’s position) = 22
– (12 + 15) = - 5

Since the number of people can never be negative. Let us find out the position of Sara and Martha from the opposite
sides respectively.

Position of Martha from the left end = Total number of persons + 1 – Position of Martha from the right end = 22 + 1
– 12 = 11th from the left end

Position of Sara from the right end = Total number of persons + 1 – Position of Sara from the left end = 22 + 1 – 15 =
8th from the right end

Number of students between Martha and Sara = Total number of persons – (Martha’s position + Sara’s position) = 22
– (11 + 8) = 3
3. B
Sol. Number of dancers = 56 x (9/14) = 36

Number of singers = 56 x (5/14) = 20

Rose ranks 12th among singers from the bottom, that means Rose is a singer.

Among 20 singers, 11 singers are below Rose.

So, the remaining singers should be above her i.e., (20 – 12) = 8 singers are above her

Number of dancers above Rose = 18 – 8 = 10

That means, number of dancers below Rose = 36 – 10 = 26

4. D
www.gradeup.co

Sol. The number of persons between Richard and Jackson = 64 – (18 + 23) = 23 persons

Now Anna is exactly between Richard and Jackson.

Therefore, the numbers between Richard and Anna = 11

5. B
Sol. On shifting 7 places to the left, Kate’s position = 8th from the left end

So, Kate’s initial position = 7 + 8 = 15th from the left end

So, Sam’s position = 15 + 5 = 20th from the left end

So, the position of Sam from the right end = Total number of females + 1 – Position of Sam from the left end = 24 +
1 – 20 = 5th from the right end
6. D
Sol. Steps:

1. B secures more marks than C but less marks than E.

E > B > C …1

2. A secures less than only D.

A>D>E>B>C

That means, A secure 50 marks and B secures 30 marks. C secures lesser marks than B, that means C is most likely
to secure 25 marks.
7. D
Sol. 1. W paid more than only X.

W>X

2. V paid more than W and Z both but not as much as Y.

Y>V>Z>W>X
www.gradeup.co

Clearly, Z paid the third highest amount.

8. C
Sol.

Hence, option C is the correct answer.

9. D
Sol. Except KN, all other are opposite letters.

GT - G = 7 and 27 - 7 = 20 = T (i.e. the position of G from the back gives T)

LO - L = 12 and 27 - 12 = 15 = O (i.e. the position of L from the back gives O)
AZ - A = 1 and 27 - 1 = 26 = Z (i.e. the position of A from the back gives Z)

Hence, the correct option D.

10. B
Sol. Except for Mumble others are synonyms of each other.

Scream , Shout and roar are high pitched sound.

Mumble is very low pitched sound.

Hence, option B is the correct answer.

11. C
Sol. Clarinet, trumpet and Saxophone is a family of wind instruments. While Xylophone is consisting of wooden bars
struck by mallets is different from the rest three.

Hence, option C is the correct answer.

12. C
Sol. The pattern is same in:

14 × 8 = 112
www.gradeup.co

56 × 2 = 112

16 × 7 = 112

But,

28 × 5 = 140 ≠ 112

So, (28, 5) is odd number pair.

Hence, option C is the correct answer.

13. A
Sol. Logic:

2nd term is 6 times of 1st term

Except option A, all other are follows the above logic.

option B – 12 X 6 = 72

Option C – 17 X 6 = 102

option D – 19 X 6 114

Hence, option A is the correct answer.

14. A
Sol. Diagram can be drawn as given below-
www.gradeup.co

From the above figure, its clear that N, O and K are siblings. M is the mother of N, O and K. M and L are married.
So, L is the father of K.

Hence, option A is the correct answer.

15. D
Sol.

Hence, B is son of D.
16. B
Sol. The only son of women’s grandfather will be women’s father who is the father of man’s brother and therefore of man
also. Thus, the women is the sister of that man.
17. D
Sol. From the given relation equations,

We can conclude that S is husband of R so S is Q's brother in law.

www.gradeup.co

18. C
Sol.

So, B is the son or daughter of T.

19. D
Sol. N+O→ N is daughter of O
O-P → O is father of P
P×Q → P is son of Q
P+Q → P is daughter of Q
Hence Q is mother of N
Therefore the Correct Answer is Option E.
20. C
Sol. S÷T → S is wife of T
T×V → T is son of V
V-W → V is father of W
W+Y → W is daughter of Y
== > T is son of Y
S is sister in law of W
S is daughter in law of Y
Y is wife of V
Therefore the Correct Answer is Option C .
