Addiction to gadgets is a common problem of teachers around the world. A prior
study that was carried out in six Asian nations concluded that children aged from 12 to 18 years held ownership of smartphones at a rate of 62% overall. A study has shown that digital addiction has a detrimental effect on students’ performance in the classroom.
In our country smartphone addiction’s predictive capacity for health-related
quality of life among Filipino adolescents found a high prevalence rate of smartphone addiction (62.6%) (Buctot, Kim, & Kim, 2020). The use of smartphone has become widespread amongst today’s children and young people (CYP) which parallels increases in poor mental health. Gadget addiction a rise during the pandemic according to ‘The World Unplugged Project’ (2010) consisting of 1000 children, revealed withdrawal symptoms (from gadgets) in 50% of the participants. Most children failed to stay away from gadgets for 24 hours and showed signs of restlessness, irritating behavior, appetite loss, etc. Addiction to gadgets can also lead to the misbehavior of the students in the school that create stress among teachers. in this group.
