SCRIPT

NARRATOR (ZHEN): Long ago, in a faraway land, there lived a king and a queen who held a
great feast to celebrate the birth of their baby daughter, Aurora.
The king of a nearby country, and his young son, Philip, were guests at the feast.
The two kings made plans for Phillip and Aurora to marry on the Princess’s sixteenth birthday.
Also at the celebrations were the Princess’s three fairy godmothers – flora, fauna,
and merry weather. Each of them brought a special gift for the little princess.

Flora (JERICHO): I give you the gift of beauty.

Fauna (ZHEN): I give you the gift of song.

Narrator (ZHEN): then merry weather fluttered over and cradle. She raises her wand. Suddenly
there was a crack of thunder.

(MALEFICENT ENTERS THE ROOM)

Narrator (ZHEN): Maleficent the wicked fairy, stormed in. She was furious that she had not
been invited to the celebration.
Merry weather (NELZON): You should not!!
(Maleficent’s face will look mad)
Maleficent (JOANA): I also have a gift for you, before the sun sets on your sixteenth birthday,
you will prick your finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die.
Maleficent will laugh and will leave the room.

The mother and father of Aurora will look horrified.

But merry weather will interrupt the situation.

Merry Weather (NELZON): I still have my gift for the princess Your Highness. When the
spindle pricks your finger, you will not die instead you will fall into an enchanted sleep and only
true love’s kiss shall break the spell.
Narrator (ZHEN): The king was still worried about his daughter’s safety. He ordered every
snipping wheel in the kingdom to be burned. Then, he and the queen sadly agreed to the fairy
godmother’s plan to protect Aurora until her sixteenth birthday had passed. Flora, Fauna, and
Merry Weather took care of the baby princess and renamed her Briar Rose. As the years passed,
Maleficent kept searching for the princess, but she never found her, Maleficent didn’t surrender
so she sent her trusted pet raven to try and find her. It was Maleficent’s last chance.

Maleficent (JOANA): Try to find her and don’t fail.

(The bird (HENDRICK) will fly)

Narrator (ZHEN): The morning of Briar Rose’s birthday came. The three fairies sent her to
collect berries so they could prepare some birthday surprises. After gathering the berries Briar
Rose rested in the woodland glade.
Briar Rose (HAILEY): (Will dance along with the music)
Narrator (ZHEN): The prince will find Briar Rose and will hold her hand and they will start
dancing.
(After the song Phillip will ask Briar Rose)
Philip (ROBERT): what’s your name?
And Briar Rose will run, and Prince Philip will look sad.

Narrator (ZHEN): meanwhile the three fairies already arranged the birthday surprise for Briar
Rose and are prepared to tell the truth to the princess.
Fauna (ZHEN), Flora (JERICHO), Merry Weather (NELZON): Happy Birthday our Princess!
Briar Rose (HAILEY): (will look shocked)
Fauna (ZHEN): It’s about time for you to know your real identity, you’re a princess my dear and
we are now going to the palace for you to meet the queen and the king as well as your future
husband.
Briar Rose (HAILEY): But I’ve met someone in the forest!
Fauna (ZHEN): we’re running out of time dear; we need to go.
The three fairies and briar rose went to the palace.

Narrator (ZHEN): As soon as darkness fell, the fairy godmothers led Briar Rose through the
forest to the palace. They had no idea that Maleficent was already there. Lying in wait for them.
At the palace, the fairy godmothers left Aurora in q quiet place to rest.
Suddenly, a strange glowing light appeared, and briar rose followed it in a trance-like state. It led
her up a winding staircase to the attic room.
Maleficent (JOANA): put your finger on the spindle, princess.
Briar rose (HAILEY): (pricked her finger on the spindle and fell to the floor.)

Narrator (ZHEN): as soon as the fairy godmothers found Aurora lying by the spinning wheel,
they cast a sleeping spell on the entire palace. And luckily, the fairies had discovered that Prince
Philip was the stranger whom Briar Rose had fallen in love with. Only his kiss could wake her!

So, the fairies started to look for the prince.

Fauna (ZHEN): Prince Philip we need your help! Briar Rose falls into a deep sleep because of
the curse, only your true love’s kiss will wake her up!
Prince (ROBERT): So, she was the one I met in the forest.

Narrator (ZHEN): Then they rushed into the palace at the attic room and as they saw Briar Rose
sleeping, the prince ran towards Briar Rose and looked at her closer and kissed her on her
forehead, and after that Princess Briar Rose woke and the curse was break.
