B. Concurrent Requirements
The service bulletin listed below must be done at the same time as this service bulletin:

Company Service Bulletin Description

The Boeing Company 737-57A1349, Original Issue, Do a high frequency eddy current (HFEC)
dated April 14, 2020 inspection of the left and right lower aft wing
skin aft edge where the flap tracks attach to
the track support fittings at flap track numbers
1 (WBL 355), 2 (WBL 254), and 3 (WBL 191),
and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7 (WBL
254) and 8 (WBL 355), for any crack. If any
crack is found, contact the Boeing Company
for repair instructions, and do the repair.
If no crack is found do a repeat HFEC
inspection of the left and right wing, lower aft
wing skin aft edge at flap track numbers 1
(WBL 355), 2 (WBL 254), and 3 (WBL 191),
and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7 (WBL
254) and 8 (WBL 355), for any crack.
RC: End
C. Reason
Accomplishment of this service bulletin will make sure any crack in the left and right wing, lower aft wing
skin aft edge, where the flap tracks attach to the track support fittings, at flap track numbers 1 (WBL 355),
2 (WBL 254), and 3 (WBL 191), and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7 (WBL 254) and 8 (WBL 355), is
found. If this bulletin is not done, an undetected crack in the lower aft wing skin could result in the inability
of the structure to carry limit load and could adversely affect the structural integrity of the airplane.

During teardown of a 737-300, crack indications were found in the lower aft wing skin bolt holes where
the flap tracks attach to the track support fitting at flap track number 1, flap track number 2, and flap track
number 3. Crack indications at flap track number 2 and flap track number 3 were confirmed by a
metallurgical lab to have cracks. The indication at flap track number 1 was confirmed by the metallurgical
lab to have some corrosion in the hole of the fitting, but no crack in the skin. This damage is the result of
local stresses being higher than expected. The left and right wing, lower aft wing skin pad up length is
insufficient to reduce stress. The crack finding occurred at 67,695 flight cycles / 80,269 flight hours.

This service bulletin gives instructions to do a High Frequency Eddy Current (HFEC) inspection of the left
and right wing, lower aft wing skin aft edge where the flap tracks attach to the track support fittings at flap
track numbers 1 (WBL 355), 2 (WBL 254), and 3 (WBL 191), and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7
(WBL 254) and 8 (WBL 355), for any crack.

Boeing Service Related Problem (SRP) 737-SRP-57-0341 is related to this service bulletin.

Boeing Fleet Team Digest (FTD) 737-FTD-57-18003 is related to this service bulletin.

D. Description
Do a high frequency eddy current (HFEC) inspection of the left and right lower aft wing skin aft edge
where the flap tracks attach to the track support fittings at flap track numbers 1 (WBL 355), 2 (WBL 254),
and 3 (WBL 191), and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7 (WBL 254) and 8 (WBL 355), for any crack. If
any crack is found, contact the Boeing Company for repair instructions, and do the repair.

If no crack is found do a repeat HFEC inspection of the left and right wing, lower aft wing skin aft edge
where the flap tracks attach to the track support fittings at flap track numbers 1 (WBL 355), 2 (WBL 254),
and 3 (WBL 191), and flap track numbers 6 (WBL 191), 7 (WBL 254) and 8 (WBL 355), for any crack.

F. Approval
This service bulletin was examined by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The changes specified in
this service bulletin comply with the applicable regulations and are FAA approved. This service bulletin and
its approval were based on the installation of APB STC ST01219SE.

If an airplane has a non-Boeing modification, non-APB modification, or repair that affects a component or
system also affected by this service bulletin, the operator is responsible for obtaining appropriate regulatory
agency approval before incorporating this service bulletin.

G. Manpower
The table below shows an estimate of the task hours necessary to do this inspection for each airplane. This
estimate is for direct labor only, done by an experienced crew. Adjust the estimate with operator task hour
data if necessary. The estimate does not include lost time. These are some examples of lost time:
 Time to adjust to the workplace
 Time to schedule the work
 Time to inspect the work
 Time to cure the materials
 Time to make the parts
 Time to find the tools

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
A. GENERAL INFORMATION
Refer to Boeing Service Bulletin 737-57A1349.
Some steps in the Work Instructions are labeled as Required for Compliance (RC). If this service bulletin is
mandated by an Airworthiness Directive (AD), then the steps labeled as RC, including sub-steps under an
RC step and any figures identified in an RC step, must be done to comply with the AD. If a step or sub-step
is labeled “RC Exempt”, then the RC requirement is removed from that step or sub-step. An Alternative
Method of Compliance (AMOC) is required for any deviations to RC steps, including sub-steps and
identified figures. Steps not labeled as RC may be deviated from using accepted methods in accordance
with the operator’s maintenance or inspection program without obtaining approval of an AMOC. This is
provided that the RC steps, including sub-steps and identified figures, can still be done as specified, and
the airplane can be put back in an airworthy condition.
