Exercise 1

a) While pulsating the clock we check if the switch

connected to clr, S1 and D does anything. Seeing that
our outputs stay off we can conclude that the switch
won’t do anything unless we have an input by
powering either lin or rin. We can also notice that
output 1 is connected to lin, so if we get our circuit to
turn output 1 on it will allow the bit shifter to do its
shifting. If wet turn on our reset switch and then
pulsate the clock (S0) the last output turns on. Then we
have to turn off the reset, without turning off our main
switch then pulsating the clock the on output keeps
moving until it reaches the first one, when it disappears
and a new on output will be turned on since lin has
been turned on with the first output

b) Similar to the first one, to analyze the second circuit,
we can pulsate the clock and if the switch is on the
outputs will start lighting up from the 1st one, since the
serial left input (lin) is on up until inputs 2-4 are on,
then the lin is turned off and with the next pulse our off
output shifts and lin is on again.

c) Lastly the third circuit is pretty simple. It functions
when both the reset switch and s0 switch are on. When
pulsating the clock it firstly fills the outputs from
highest to lowest, and when the output with the lowest
number is on, it turns of the lin switch, and all the
outputs are consecutively turned off.
