LOCATION:
Portugal is located in the south western part of Europe. It is
bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and Spain too. Portugal is also
divided into eighteen districts. The biggest district is Beja, and it is
more than ten thousand square kilometers big.

POPULATION:
The population of Portugal is ten million, three hundred forty three
thousand, sixty six of 2023.
CULTURE
RELIGION:
Portugal has no o cial national religion. But most people follow the
Roman Catholic religion. People in Portugal believe that someone
can be cursed with an “evil eye”. Fatima, located in Portugal, is one
of Europe’s most famous apparitions. It is here that Virgin Mary
appeared to three shepherd children during the first world war to
bring peace.
FOOD:
Pastel de Nata is one of the most popular foods because of its
delicious taste. Pastel de Nata is one of the seven wonders of
Portuguese Gastronomy.
Bacalhau is Portugal’s national dish. It is dry salted cod fish. People
say that there are three hundred sixty-five di erent ways to cook it.
Lastly, another dish called Frango Piri-Piri is another famous food.
TRADITIONS:
Portugal has many festivals, most are religious in nature. The most
known festival is called “Popular Saints”, more specifically “the
feats of sait.” The highlight of all the parades on 12 of St. John the
Baptist is a popular party in Braga.

LANDFORMS:
The highest point in Portugal (Pico Volcano) and it stands 7.713 feet
tall. Further south and west the land stoops to rolling hills and
lowland. The major rivers in Portugal include Douro, Guadiana,
Mondego and Tagus. There are no inland lakes.
SPORTS:
The most popular sport in Portugal is football, soccer, and it has a
long history. Portugal won four European Cups, two UEFA Cups, one
European Winners Cup and two International Cups. Christiano
Ronaldo is a very famous soccer player in Portugal. Portugal has
won almost every European and World title.
