Meet

Miss Erika
Hello! My name is Erika Corredor, and I am beyond static to be your new teacher for this coming year.
I am originally from Bogota, Colombia. I have been in the States for 8 years, I am perfectly fluent and English and
Spanish. I come from an education family with my mom being a retired preschool teacher for over 35 years and
my dad being the principal and owner of a school down in my home country.
I have a background in Industrial Design and I just got certified as a bilingual teacher. Previous to my certification
I worked in a daycare where I taught Spanish to pre-K and Kindergarten once a week.
I enjoy teaching and believe it can be a fun experience once you find the love for it. even thought my background
is far from the education I always find myself teaching something to someone, and feeling the satisfaction of
helping others grow.
I can't wait to meet your family and little ones and start this new year together!

I believe that communication is the key to your child's success and to a great parent/teacher relationship. I
encourage you to contact me if you have any questions or concerns at any time. I will also do my part by sending
home a weekly communication folder that will go out at the beginning of each week and will be returned to the
classroom every Friday. The communication folder will include a weekly newsletter, including what we have been
doing, as well as things that are upcoming. When returning the folder feel free to include a note to the teacher. I
will respond by Tuesday of the
following week.
As the classroom rules that are vital for me and that have been working in the past for my previous students are:
Use of a hand or sound signal. This will help minimize the distractions/interruptions and will give a more
organized way to settle any questions, comments, or concerns that are been placed during the lesson.]
Assign individual responsibilities. If everyone concentrates on one job things in the classroom will be
organized and smooth, everyone is good at least at one thing, and the idea is to stick to it and perform it in the
best way possible, clearly, there is going to be a rotation so everyone can have a turn to do everything.
Use of the free time productively. Sometimes we cover the lessons faster than expected so my plan is to give
the students the freedom to choose their activity wisely, this helps them gain independence and confidence
and also allows them to use their time wisely.
Grading goes from 1 to 5, with 1 being the lowest and 5 being the best score.
5. The student understands the task/topic and made an evident effort to execute the exercise according to the
instructions.
4. The student understands most of the information provided and completed the task.
3. The student is halfway there, might understand some but still has doubts, and didn't make the best effort to
complete the exercise.
2. The student understands very little and as proof of his confusion, the task was barely completed or is
incomplete.
1. The students don't understand the lesson or task and didn't complete it or are very confused.

Homework will be turned in every morning in the bin that is labeled "HOMEWORK" first thing in the morning, we
will review it together to make sure it was clear the assignment and resolve doubts, I will grate thru the day and
will be given back with feedback before the day ends. In the case the assignment is digital the process reminds
the same except for the physical bind, it will be reviewed in the same format that was created.

This is a little heads up of what the students would expect from me, there will be more information along the way.

I am so excited to begin this journey with y'all, and I guarantee you it would be a fun year, full of learning, growing,
and most importantly full of adventures.
