NATURE OF

LIGHT
presented by : Group 1
The Corpuscular ( particle) Theroy -
Newton’s Theory

According to the thoery,Newton thought that light is

made up of particles that travel through space on a
straight line.
Reflection
is the bouncing of light as it hits a
surface.Newon demonstrated that
particles collide with the surface
and bounce back .
Refraction
the change in direction of a wave
passing from one medium to another
caused by its change in speed.
Diffraction
is the bending of light as it passes
around the edge of an object. newton
felt that light does not travel around
corners.
Dispersion
is the separation of light into colors.
ENERGY OF
LIGHT
Newton believed light consisted of
particles called corpuscles emitted from
light sources. These particles, now known as
photons, behave like quanta or packets of
energy. The photoelectric effect provided
evidence supporting light's particle-like
properties.

WAVE PROPERTY
OF AN ELECTRON
"In 1900, Max Planck discovered the Planck
constant, a key component of his formulation of
Planck radiation Law. In 1905, Albert Einstein
demonstrated that light, traditionally viewed as
an electromagnetic wave, could also be
conceptualized as discrete packets of energy."
