Task 1

Broken leg
Hi Jane,
It’s been so long since I’ve heard from you. I hope you are doing well and I hope all
your family is doing fine. Anyway, the reason I’m writing is to give you some
information about the English test and a funny book for your to read
I heard that your leg is broken so you can't go to school. Is your leg ok now? Is it
difficult for you to walk? I haven't seen you coming to class these few days and I feel
very sad. I would like to recommend the book with the title "Stop being too lazy or
stop working". The book is about adult life, the "heart" of the office people and helps
you realize that working life is always full of joy. I hope this book brings laughter to
you while you are in the hospital.
About the English test, the teacher told us to review from lessons 6 to 12, the test
consists of multiple choices, each question will have four options. I think you should
do all the exercises in lessons 6 to 12 and some more advanced exercises. I think that's
enough for you to pass the upcoming test.
If you need to know anything else, just get in touch with me as soon as you can. I
hope you get well soon so that you can go to class.
Best wishes
Hien

Festival
Hi Audrey,
It’s been so long since I’ve heard from you. I hope you are well and your work goes
well. Anyway, the reason I’m writing is to give you some information about a festival
in my country.
I will introduce you one of the most important festivals in my country, that festival
is called "Tet". Tet often begins in late-January and ends in early-February. At that
time, all family members try to come back to their home and get together to make
such preparations for Tet as buying new clothes and cleaning their house.A branch of
apricot blossoms or a Kumquat tree is indispensable decoration for every family in
these days. Some typical Tet’s food are sweets, coconut jam, melon seeds and
especially sticky rice cake. I think you should experience this period, it will help your
research. During that time I'm free and I'm happy to hear you'll be joining me at the
festival.
If you need to know anything else, just get in touch with me as soon as you can.
Love,

one-week holiday

Task 2

Technology
In recent years, information technology has developed rapidly and many people
predict that it will develop strongly in the future. Some people believe that books will
be replaced by computers in the future. To some extent, I agree that the number of
printed books will decrease significantly in the future, but I believe that printed or
written books will continue to exist in the future.
On the one hand, in fact, with the existence of the internet and computers, people can
absorb a lot of information. People just need to open their device, connect to the
network and they can search for all the articles they need. Besides, today there are
many news agencies that provide electronic newspapers, which you can read using the
smart electronic devices you have. Therefore, there are many people who prefer
reading electronic information rather than buying books or newspapers.
On the other hand, some people believe that books and newspapers will continue to
exist, but their number will decrease significantly. Because, firstly, not everyone likes
to read an article directly through this utility because they find it uncomfortable. They
believe that computer screen radiation will negatively affect eye health. Second,
people living in rural and remote areas cannot yet connect to the internet so they still
need printed copies.
In short, while it is true that the number of electronic books and news has increased
significantly in recent years, the existence of print versions will be irreplaceable.
Because some people do not feel comfortable reading articles directly from a
computer screen and others living in rural areas may not have access to technology.

Social networking
Many people believe that social networking sites, such as Facebook, have had a
detrimental impact on individuals as well as communities. In my opinion, the benefits
of websites bring great benefits to individuals. However, I agree that society and
individuals are also partly affected negatively.
As for individuals, they have earned many benefits through social networks. For
example, people from all over the world have gained connections with others through
social networking sites, specifically 'Facebook' whereas it was not possible to build
relationships with others before having social networks. In the past, people rarely met
each other, but now it is more obvious that they often meet online. Furthermore,
Facebook also offers the creation of groups through which people and individuals can
start discussions or share their views with others with similar interests.
On the other hand, for society, social media has hurt their lives. Now they prefer to
participate in online activities rather than physical activities. Additionally, people in
the local community are no longer as close to each other as before. A decline in the
formation of supportive relationships has been observed. Furthermore, it has been
noticed that people spend most of their time online instead of doing physical work,
such as playing a sport instead of video games among teenagers. Additionally, society
has become heavily dependent on online shopping for the products they want to buy.
It has led to a significant loss of local suppliers, and supermarket staff.
In short, although Facebook and other social networking sites have brought people
together, they have not had the same positive impact on communities and society.
Local communities should make efforts to encourage local people to participate in
physical activities to promote the maintenance of health and the future of community
life.

Computers
Nowadays, using computers in the educational system in schools has become a
necessary issue. Although using computers in school brings many benefits, it also has
negative effects that come with it.
Those who support the use of computers argue that their advantages outweigh their
disadvantages. One of the benefits is that computers can make the educational process
much easier and faster. For example, before the use of computers in the educational
system, students needed to process a large number of books and reference materials to
write homework or to absorb new theories. In addition, computers are a tool that helps
teachers create interesting lessons that emphasize images and sounds, making students
focus on the lesson and learn effectively. For example, students who often feel bored
with a regular lecture will tend to pay more attention when listening to visual
presentations or videos.
On the contrary, opponents argue that the negative effects of computer use are
worrisome. They point out that computers influence students' personalities and mental
abilities. For example, they don't use books anymore and don't spend as much time
absorbing knowledge as before. This behavior has caused teachers to not understand
the difficulties students encounter when absorbing knowledge. Additionally, this
makes them rush and try to get what they want without thinking.
In short, taking advantage of the benefits of computers in the educational process has
helped both students and teachers, but at the same time, it has also lost students'
enthusiasm for learning and affected their personalities and emotions. children in a
negative way.

Travelling
In recent years, Gap Year has been a good opportunity for high school graduates to
travel before starting work or going to college. However, others disagree and think it
is a waste. waste precious time. Although I sympathize with the latter view, I still
support the former.
There are two main reasons why people oppose this idea. First, when high school
graduates take a gap year, they are said to be falling behind their peers. This means
that by the time they graduate, their former classmates will already have a year of
work experience under their belt, leaving those who take the one year with little
chance of finding a well-paying job. Second, even if high school students work, they
cannot accumulate enough finances to cover all the living and travel expenses of the
trip. So, on the one hand, they leave behind unnecessary financial waste for the
family; on the other hand, their trips are often short and limited in activities. For these
reasons, most travel is determined to be unreasonable.
On the contrary, I think those experiences are beneficial for young people. After
twelve years of grueling academic training, teenagers will be able to see the world in
their way. This helps you develop a more comprehensive view of life and form the
right attitudes throughout adulthood. When students travel alone, they learn to be
independent and solve problems on their own, such as paying some travel bills. As a
result, they will end up appreciating things and people that they may have previously
taken for granted. There are reports that students who participated in a trip were more
determined and motivated in their studies and future work than students who did not
participate.
In short, after a long period of being immersed in tests and exams, high school
graduates need the opportunity to learn about the world on their own. Despite all the
disadvantages that have been discussed, I believe the trip is still worth it because the
benefits can be felt throughout their lives.

Global warming
Global warming is a serious worldwide problem that arises due to the action of gases
such as Carbon Dioxide that trap heat from the sun causing an increase in global
temperature, a process known as the solar effect. Greenhouses have many causes that
are believed to be influenced by humans. Various measures can be taken to address
this urgent problem.
The main cause of global warming is human activities such as deforestation, building
factories, driving more cars, increasing the number of airplanes, etc. It can be seen that
trees and forests play an important role in regulating climate and promoting a healthy
environment. However, people are deforesting forests for agriculture and logging,
leading to increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. In addition, fuel
burning is also considered one of the causes of global warming. Because using fuels
such as coal, oil, and gas can release carbon dioxide and other harmful gases into the
atmosphere. In cities, large amounts of greenhouse gases arise from the use of these
energy sources for transportation, electricity, and heating.
Global warming has serious effects on the environment such as rising sea levels,
floods and droughts, and melting of the polar ice caps leading to extreme weather
conditions. There are some solutions that governments and individuals should take to
prevent and end this problem. Firstly, to solve the problem of global warming, change
from the use of fossil fuels to renewable energy sources. Using environmentally
friendly sources such as solar, wind, and hydropower can help reduce greenhouse gas
emissions and allow companies and countries to save more money in the long run.
Second, governments and individuals can reduce energy consumption by reducing the
number of flights, and using public transportation to reduce car use. It is
recommended to use environmentally friendly means of transport such as bicycles and
reduce the number of private cars.
In conclusion, global warming is a serious worldwide problem arising from human
activities that requires the participation of both governments and individuals to end.

Smoking
Smoking is considered highly dangerous to our health because it impacts both the
smokers and the people around them. Therefore there should be some strict controls
about smoking in public places. I completely agree with this. And here are some
explanations supporting my opinion.
To begin, smoking can negatively affect the health of the surrounding people,
especially children as they breathe in the exhaled smoke from smokers. This leads to
health problems for those around these smokers.
Secondly, it has been argued that tobacco contains a lot of harmful chemicals which
are harmful to a person’s well being, not only smokers. Therefore, passive smoking is
also harmful, especially for children under the age of six and pregnant women.
Thirdly, smoking in public places has a negative influence on young people’s
perspectives towards smoking. For example, teenagers can imitate and learn how to
smoke so this is not a good image or role model for the young generation.
In conclusion, it is apparent that smoking has negative impacts on not just the
smoker's personal health but also the health of others around them. As a result, strong
smoking control measures should be implemented. Thousands of people's health will
be improved as a result of this, and that is unquestionably a good thing.
