Fund changes in your Choices

Retirement Savings Plan

Sun Life regularly reviews the investments available in our Choices plan.
To ensure your plan continues to help you save for a bright financial future,
we have added a new fund to give you a bigger mix of investment options.

We can’t always guess how well investments will do or how steady they’ll be. That’s why it’s important to have
a mix of different funds. We call this diversification. When you diversify, you lower your risk. That’s because the
positive performance of some of the funds could help make up for any negative performance of other funds.

Target risk funds establish and maintain a specific level of risk in each portfolio over time.
In September 2023, Sun Life added the Sun Life Granite Conservative Retirement and Sun Life Granite
Aggressive Retirement Segregated Funds to your Choices plan. Your plan(s) also offer the Sun Life Granite
Retirement Segregated Fund (“Granite Retirement”) with Moderate risk level. However, its name currently
doesn’t explicitly state the “Moderate” risk level.
For clarity and consistency, we will be adding the Sun Life Granite Moderate Retirement Segregated Fund
(“Granite Moderate Retirement”) on April 2, 2024. This fund will have fund management fees (FMFs) similar
to other funds in the series. For a full list of fund management fees for your plan, log in to mysunlife.ca and

What are fund management fees (FMFs)?

In your workplace plan, you pay FMFs. We include these fees in the unit price of each fund you’re investing in.
FMFs include investment management fees (IMFs) and operating expenses. IMFs pay professional investment
managers to research, select and manage a fund’s investments. Operating expenses cover fund management
costs like legal, audit, transaction, administration and regulatory filing fees. FMFs also pay for keeping records
of your account and member servicing costs.
