LITERATURE REVIEW

2.0 INTRODUCTION

Weddings are significant events in people's lives, and organizing a successful

wedding requires careful planning and coordination. One of the critical elements of
planning a wedding is finding the perfect wedding venue, and with the rise of
technology, couples are increasingly turning to platforms to book and reserve
wedding halls. The wedding industry has seen a significant shift towards digitization,
with more and more wedding venues adopting wedding hall booking and reservation
management systems to streamline their operations.

2.1 THEORETICAL AND CONCEPTUAL DEVELOPMENT

The theoretical and conceptual development of a wedding hall booking and

reservation management system involves analyzing the current trends and challenges
in the wedding industry, as well as exploring the potential benefits of technology in
addressing these issues. According to a study by MarketWatch, the global wedding
industry is expected to reach $1,619.8 billion by 2028, indicating a significant market

and management process (MarketWatch, 2021). By understanding the needs and
expectations of customers and the challenges faced by wedding hall owners, a
wedding hall booking and reservation management system can be designed to

more efficient. In addition, the system would allow users to view the
availability of wedding halls, their prices, and other important information
necessary for making an informed decision.

Our partnership with the Somali government has enabled us to create

a robust wedding hall booking and reservation management system that is
accessible to all. We provide technical support necessary to develop a user-
friendly interface that simplifies the process of booking and reserving
wedding halls. Our system also ensures that all wedding halls conform to
international standards and regulations.

By providing a reliable and standardized wedding hall booking and

reservation management system, we aim to boost the country's economy and

2.1.4.1 PHP

PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) is a server-side scripting language

designed for web development. It was originally created in 1994 by Rasmus
Lerdorf as a set of Common Gateway Interface (CGI) scripts written in C.
PHP scripts are typically embedded in HTML code and processed by a web
server to generate dynamic web pages. PHP is often used alongside MySQL
or other relational database management systems to build complex web
applications.

2.1.4.2 MYSQL

MySQL is a widely used and highly regarded open-source relational

database management system (RDBMS). Developed by Michael Widenius
and his team, MySQL has a unique name that combines "My" with the
acronym SQL, which stands for Structured Query Language. MySQL is
licensed under the GNU General Public License, making it free and open-
source software that is also available under various proprietary licenses. The
database system was initially owned by MySQL AB, a Swedish company that
was later acquired by Sun Microsystems, which is now owned by Oracle
Corporation.

MySQL is a crucial component of the LAMP web application

software stack, which includes Linux, Apache, MySQL, and programming
languages such as Perl, PHP, or Python. The RDBMS is a popular choice for
powering many web applications, including major platforms such as Drupal,
Joomla, phpBB, and WordPress. Due to its scalability, reliability, and ease of

seeking to manage their data efficiently. With a thriving community and
active development, MySQL continues to evolve and remain relevant in an

2.2 CASE STUDY OF THE RESEARCH

HOOYO MACAAN is located in ( mogadishu specially suuq bacaad ) and

undergoing a transformation from a simple villa into an exquisite wedding hall. The
building will feature an elegant ceremonial hall with a blank canvas design for
personalization. The hall seamlessly blends interior and exterior spaces with a
picturesque terrace.

During the development process, we proposed implementing a wedding hall

booking and reservation management system, which HOOYO MACAAN gladly
accepted. This system aims to provide a user-friendly platform for effortless booking
and real-time updates on venue availability, optimizing their services and enhancing
the overall experience for couples and venue staff.

With the integration of the advanced management system, HOOYO

unforgettable wedding ceremonies. Anticipation builds for the unveiling of this

2.3 COMPARE BETWEEN EXITING SYSTEM

Wedding Hall Booking System is to manage the details of Booking,

Customer, Employee, Enquiry, Event. It manages all the information about Booking,
Venue, Event, Booking. The project is totally built at administrative end and thus
only the administrator is guaranteed the access. The purpose of the project is to build
an application program to reduce the manual work for managing the Booking,
Customer, Venue, Employee. It tracks all the details about the Employee, Enquiry,
Event.

2.3.1 MARRIAGE HALL BOOKING SYSTEM

The "Marriage Hall Booking System" has been developed to override the
problems prevailing in the practicing manual system. This software is supported to
eliminate and in some cases reduce the hardships faced by this existing system.
Moreover this system is designed for the particular need of the company to carry out
operations in a smooth and effective manner.

2.3.2 WEDDING HALL BOOKING SYSTEM

This is a Simple PHP entitled Wedding Hall Booking System. This is a web-
based application project that helps the wedding halls business or any similar. It
provides an online platform for the clients or possible clients of the said kind of
business to book their desired wedding halls with some relevant information such as
the services they also wanted.
