Sub: Water Resources Department - Issue of SOP (Standard Operating
Procedure) to fill the Drinking Water Sources under the Nagar].una Sagar
Right Canal (NSRC) scheduled from 08.04.2024 -Instructions -Reg.
2. Hence, the concerned District Collectors are requested to coordinate with all
the stake holders viz, Water Resources Department, Rural Water Supply (RWS),
Public Health Departments etc; and shall put all the efforts to ensure that all the
drinking water sources under above canal systems receive sufficient water which
can cater the Drinking Water needs up to the end of June 2024 till onset of
monsoon. In order to achieve the same, the following points shall be scrupulously
followed/ implemented for effective filling of Drinking Water sources.
> Before release of water into canals all off takes are to be plugged, any cross
bunds obstructing the flows may be removed, cross bunds where ever
required may be formed, weed in the canal may be removed for smooth flow
of water and vulnerable reaches are protected to avoid any damages during
flows in the canals which may hamper the performance.
> Once the water is released on 08.04,2024, vigilance teams may be formed
with all the stake holders to monitor water regulation round the clock.

> It is also made clear that the District Administration shall include the
required revenue and police personal in the vigilance teams to avoid any
untoward incidents and facilitate the uninterrupted flow of water to reach
intended drinking water sources.
> It is planned to release more d.Ischarge @ 5500 Cusecs of water in short
span to minimise the seepage and evaporation losses from 08.04.2024 to
18.04.2024 as is usual practice.
> It is to be kept in mind that there is no scope for any further release of
water till .Inflows are received into NSP after onset of monsoon.
3. Therefore, the concerned District Collectors shaH act accordingly duly co-
ordinating with aH the stake holders like Superintending Engineers of Lingamguntla
& Ongole, RWS, PWS, CPWS, and Municipal Administration for smooth water
regulation and to ensure to meet the drinking water needs of entire region.
