decided t:o release drinking water from Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal (NSRC) to
cater the drinking water requirements of Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla and Prakasam
districts from 08.04.2024 onwards in order to impound water in Buggavanka
Reservoir to enable intended releases to fill the Summer Storage (SS) tanks
enroute the canal as per the release order Dt.09.10.2023 of KRMB,

2. Hence, the concerned District Collectors are requested to coordinate with all
the stake holders viz, Water Resources Department, Rural Water Supply (RWS),
Public Health Departments etc; and shall put all the efforts to ensure that all the
drinking water sources under above canal systems receive sufficient water which
can cater the Drinking Water needs up to the end of June 2024 till onset of

followed/ implemented for effective filling of Drinking Water sources.

> Before release of water into canals all off takes are to be plugged, any cross
bunds obstructing the flows may be removed, cross bunds where ever
required may be formed, weed in the canal may be removed for smooth flow
of water and vulnerable reaches are protected to avoid any damages during
flows in the canals which may hamper the performance.

> Suitable arrangements to tap water to their needs by way of pumping,

diversions as required may be kept ready by the concerned departments i,e.
RWS Department and Urban local bodies.

> Once the water is released on 08.04,2024, vigilance teams may be formed
with all the stake holders to monitor water regulation round the clock.

> It is generally observed that misuse or pilferage occurs at head reaches. As

reaches tail end sources in the first instance and then gradually fill the upper
